Tried booking a horseback fishing trip. Called got told that they’d call me back after elk season. I get it they are bus that time of the year. I waited until January and February called several times, sent multiple emails, and sent a Facebook message. Got completely ignored. It’s not a hunt and probably don’t make as much money but don’t offer it if you’re not going to follow through.

This review is for a spring bear hunt. Although both the references I called and the owner gave rave reviews about the number of bears, after 4 days of hunting, I never did see a shootable one. Only a sow with cubs and a very small one. This is not to say there is not a top quality team in place. My guide Mark is one of the most focused and intense guides I've seen. The cook Sam is a great guy and had lots of stories to share. My big complaint is that the landowner was in the process of planting 700,000 trees and the activity associated with the removal of the old trees and planting of the new trees probably drove most of the bears out of the area. I have 2 suggestions. First get in shape.. This is steep country and 5,000'+ in elevation. I can not stress this enough. The other suggestion is to go as late in the season as possible. From the stories I heard, success rates go up, the later into the season you are.

Had an incredibly fun float trip with fishing guide, Sam Clark. What a legend. He put us on fish all day and gave excellent instruction. Not sure what I enjoyed more, catching fish or chillin with Sam. We will be back. Thanks Sam

Rich Birdsell at NRO is a top notch outfitter. He has excellent hunting ground and the best guides in the business. Your chance at a fair chase trophy is great, especially if you arrive in shape and ready to hike. I have been fortunate to hunt out of several of his camps and it is always the same: good food, very organized, guides that work extremely hard for your success. It is uncommon in the hunting business to meet a real gentleman, someone you can trust--Rich is just that.
