About GuidedHunts
GuidedHunts exists to make one frustrating thing simple: finding the right guided hunt. The outfitter industry is fragmented and pricing is notoriously opaque — details are spread across dozens of dated websites, and far too many listings say “call for pricing” instead of telling you what a hunt actually costs. We pull outfitters, packages, real regional price bands, and state regulations into one accessible place so you can search, compare, and book with confidence.
Why I built GuidedHunts
I’ve had a gun in my hands for almost as long as I can remember. I was four years old with a BB gun, spending whole days outside. At eight I got my first shotgun and started tagging along on family dove hunts. At ten I got my first rifle and shot my first buck.
Like a lot of kids, I drifted away from it in high school — I spent more time playing video games and, as it turned out, teaching myself to code. Then, at twenty-two, I got my first dog. I taught him to love working birds and squirrels, and the two of us started heading out on quail hunts together. That dog pulled me right back into the outdoors.
But every time I wanted to plan a hunt, I’d lose hours online trying to track down the best and most affordable quail farms near me. The information was scattered across old websites, half-finished pages, and listings with no prices. Comparing options and narrowing things down was genuinely hard — and I knew I couldn’t be the only hunter running into it. So I put my two worlds together — hunting and code — and built GuidedHunts to bring data transparency to an industry that badly needs it.
How our data is built
GuidedHunts isn’t a pile of generic, auto-generated text. Every page is assembled from real, structured data points and curated by hand:
- Outfitter profiles are mapped from verified business details — location, species offered, contact information, and the packages each outfit actually runs.
- Hunting packages are configured with concrete attributes: species, weapon, duration, what’s included (lodging, meals, guides, transportation), and real price bands rather than vague “call for pricing.”
- Regional answers and regulations are built from state wildlife-agency rules — the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) and its counterparts in neighboring states — alongside active regional market rates, so season dates, license requirements, and pricing reflect the place you’re actually hunting.
The goal is original utility: information you can’t easily piece together anywhere else, organized so a single search answers a question that used to take hours of digging.
