The ride rendezvous was easy to find from the Aspen-Snowmass area. The ride leaders were very friendly and helpful getting us set up and ready to go. Cam was our guide, who was so very knowledgeable about the horses and the area (and so many other things). We had great conversation, and the scenery was outstanding! Most of all my horse, Banker, was a doll! He liked to eat😆, but he listened to me and did what I asked. Excellent and well-cared for horse!💕 I would go again given the opportunity.

My wife and I had a fabulous trail ride with Capitol Peak Outfitters last week, July 2026. We went up on the ridge line with stunning views of Capitol Peak. They had a diverse group of horses which were beautiful and easy to ride. The guides were very experienced and fun and easy to talk to, and they gave straight forward and useful instructions- just the right amount of information. The trail description on the website was very accurate- the hook for us was "ridge line trail with views of Capitol." This trail and company are unique, as most are just in the trees or in the crowds near Maroon Bells. I highly recommend Capitol Peak Outfitters!

I have been on more than 12 pack trips over the years in Wyoming and Colorado. Just back from a wonderful four day - three night adventure with Ted, wrangler Tilly, my daughter and four of her friends. The trip was one of my absolute favorites. A buddy and I recently had an excellent experience on a guided, archery elk hunt with Ted Benge and Capitol Creek Outfitters. I highly recommend Ted and CCO. Ted is an excellent guide; he knows the area intimately as he grew up around there. He knows how to find and call-in elk, which I think is critical in hunting public land with a bow. We rode horseback to hunting locations each day, then walked a lot, glassed and called. If we got an elk to respond, we set-up for the hunt. Ted called-in a trophy bull elk one morning, which came in to within 30-yards of us. While we couldn't get a shot off, the adrenaline-rush experience of that will last a lifetime. The base camp was spartan, yet comfortable - a big outfitter's tent with cots. The food was excellent and plentiful. What I underestimated (and Ted absolutely told us this in advance) was how physically demanding the hunt would be - definitely harder than I thought envisioned (for a 60-something year old). If you're younger and in excellent shape, you'll probably do just fine. It also helps to be familiar with horseback riding. I most highly recommend Ted Benge and Capitol Creek Outfitters for guided hunts.
