My wife and I had the absolute pleasure of having Olivia as our horseback riding guide, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Olivia was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and made us feel completely at ease—especially since we’re not regular riders. Her passion for horses and the outdoors really shined through, and she tailored the ride perfectly to our comfort level while still making it exciting and memorable. The trail was beautiful, the horses were well cared for, and Olivia’s friendly and professional demeanor made the whole adventure unforgettable. We left feeling relaxed, happy, and already talking about when we can come back. Highly recommend Olivia to anyone looking for a fantastic horseback riding experience!

My husband took myself and our 2 daughters here for the 2 hour ride. The owner was funny and very welcoming! Our guides were absolutely amazing. We are beginners and felt like professionals by the end of our ride. The horses are well trained and staff is well seasoned. 10/10 recommend. We look forward to coming back!

This here is the real deal! We are so grateful ☺️ This ranch is so rich with history. Incredible ride on all sorts of different terrain and views. Loved riding through the aspen and that dogs went along with us. The owner went out of his way to accommodate us. Our guide Olivia was incredible. She was full of so much love and joy for the horses and what she does. She made an already amazing experience even more memorable. They are living like cowboys in the old west out there. It was really cool to see the ranch and their way of life. The horses were so well trained and fun. My partner and I had a blast and I can’t wait to bring my daughter the next time we visit. Get the kiddos off the screens and enjoy nature in such a special and powerful way with them or for something fun to do with your partner. I just can’t thank them enough.

My husband and I went on a 3 day pack trip into the Sangre de Cristo mountains with Bear Basin. We had a wonderful adventure and learned SO MUCH about packing. Mike’s cooking was incredible. I highly recommend taking a trip with Bear Basin - very professionally done and a great time!

Great ride for a family of 5. Guides were fantastic with awesome views
★★★★★
Jacob here, had an amazing 2 hour ride with my wife and the two seasonal guides. Great scenery and good conversation with the guides. Luckily the smoke from the north western wildfires had most cleared up so the view at their preferred picture spot was absolutely beautiful. Wife and I have only rode a couple of times and with simple directions it was not hard at all to know what to do on the horse!
★★★★★
I had so much fun! Spirit was the best horse and the trail was so beautiful
★★★★★
The view on top of a horsebis beautiful here! I highly recommend visiting this ranch and taking a nice ride on the land. They have more than just 2 hour rides. If you like to hunt, this ranch will help carry your belongings upbthe mountains. By HORSE! It is so amazing. Definitely going back next year.
★★★★★
Mike and Autumn were fantastic! The trail ride was so beautiful going around Bear Basin and through the Aspen Grove with Autumn as our guide. She pointed out some interesting details about the abandoned mines, the Bear Basin property, and the Bear claws on the Apens. After riding for an hour, we were treated to an incredible dinner prepared by Mike and his Mom. The four of us were happy for another hour long ride after dinner to settle all the delicious food. We really enjoyed the incredible sunset on the way back. This is a ride we look forward to doing again!

★★★★★
I'm going to be honest I didn't use their services. I called them and they gave me free information about where my group can hunt for the best chance of finding elk. most places would have charged just for a general area or said that information is for paying customer. So for that thank you.
★★★★★
My wife and I loved it, did a 2 hour ride, and will definitely be back. The scenery is beautiful, you get a great mix of different terrain. Everyone was so nice and helpful, make sure to bring plenty of water.

I was on a backpacking trip (independent of Bear Basin Ranch) with my boyfriend when I rolled my ankle and broke my foot. I was hobbling down a very steep trail in the rain with 4 miles to go when two gentleman working for this company stopped to ask if we were okay. They then proceeded to allow us to ride their extra horses back to the trailhead. I had very little horseback riding experience and felt very nervous on this steep terrain initially. But the horse, Banjo, was so patient and sweet and the two men were incredibly kind and checking on my boyfriend and I every step of the way. We didn’t even pay them and they treated us extremely well and made sure we felt safe. I would HIGHLY recommends this company if you are new to horseback riding or going out in the backcountry because you will be in very good hands. Thank you so so much Bear Basin for rescuing us from what would have been a disaster!!!!! We are so grateful for you.

Sent my family to enjoy a horseback trip while I took a nap last week. I really wished I'd joined them now. From the 70yr old grandfather to the 10yr little girl, each had enjoyed their trip with horses and guides. They saw great scenery, were treated well, and spoke highly of their afternoon trip. Sounds like I missed out and should have joined the family on an outing with Bear Basin Ranch... Next time!

Horse riding with our 9 year old granddaughter. She loved it.
★★★★★
Great company with amazing employees. I would like to thank mike and Elise for an a amazing time. I’m definitely going to recommend to everyone.
★★☆☆☆
Our reservation was cancelled the weekend we booked it. Not enough horses for the 2 kids in the reservation. We were disappointed... We booked the sunset dinner ride, so when it was cancelled we were down a meal for the weekend. There's not a grocery store for 20 miles and we were camping for the weekend. Also there is not cell service in the area so we didn't get the cancellation until we were almost at the ranch that day.
★★★★★
Wonderful horseback riding experience, from the trail to the guides. Beautiful country and scenery throughout the whole ride and well taken care of horses and stables. This is a must-see and experience, and well worth the slight trek to get to. You won't be disappointed and neither were we, we'll be back next summer!
★★★★★
Great ride, grand daughter loved it
★★★★☆
Awesome experience! We took our older children (10 and 16) horbackriding. Children 15 and under have to wear helmets, that's law, and 16yr olds have a choice. We had horses Pecos, Lil Bit, Large Marge, and Saga. The 2 hour ride offers beautiful views, peace and serenity. There was time for photos with the Sangre De Cristo Mountains in the background. Bring a light jacket and small water bottle. They have 2 outhouses on the property 😷, no running water. So bring plenty of sanitizer. And the signal out there is spotty. The owner Mike and his mom are very nice. We stayed at the Wet Mountains RV Park and Cabins afterwards.

Lee and Sophie were both very pleasant and informative. Our trip was cut short because of severe weather. It was a good call by Lee to keep us safe.
★★★★★
Very friendly people. Beautiful and well taken care of horses. It was a great relaxing ride. Definitely recommend taking a trail ride here :)

We had so much fun on our 2 hour ride yesterday. Mike, Leslie, and Lee were very knowledgeable and professional. Can't wait to go on another ride!!! Highly recommend them.

Absolutely wonderful place to ride and experience Colorados wilderness. All of the guides were wonderful people, including the new ones for the season. The meals were great and the company wasn't like having a paid guide, it was like being there with friends. The horse were great, to the extent that is bring my daughter to enjoy this adventure. This isn't for the faint of heart. No running water, no electricity, and outhouses are your bathrooms. Anyone who expects a 5 star hotel, will be sorely disappointed but hose who love the wilderness, wildlife, good people, and a good adventure will have one amazing time. I was there for 3 days and look forward to coming back for the 5 day trip.
