We had the most amazing experience at Wood River Ranch. My husband and I and another couple went on the 3 day cow elk hunt. The guides are all very experienced and have worked for this Outfitter for many years. They know the property and the elk movement well. The four of us were able to fill our tags and even see some of the most beautiful parts of this country before we left. The food was to die for and the accommodations exceeded my expectations. The pictures online don’t do this place justice. I highly recommend Wood River Ranch- it’s an experience.

I hunted in the Wilderness Camp in September 2023 with archery equipment and the bulls were everywhere and bugled all day long. We had multiple opportunities on beautiful 6x6 bulls but I was after something in the 350 range. I was on Full Draw 3 times on a couple different bulls but got busted by the cows once and just could not get a shot through the thick cover a second time. Dave worked out a deal for me to come back in October and hunt with my Rifle so I did not have to eat my Tag and I passed up 3 bulls that first morning within 200 yards and they were still bugling and with cows. That afternoon we found the one we wanted and after a 3 hour stalk and a 1000 foot drop down and 1200 foot climb up the other side we got to 360 yards of the bull we were after. Everyone within Wood River Ranch Outfitters was professional, kind, and made sure I had everything I needed. The horses and Mules were great, the food was great, the tents were great, and the location and scenery was unbeatable. If you have 13 points or more I highly recommend talking to Dave and applying for until 63 and booking a hunt with him and his team.

Myself and two sons shared an incredible pack in archery hunt of a lifetime in 2022. The horses/mules were in amazing condition and manners. The wilderness camp was pristine and food was first class. There were an abundance of elk and the Wood River team knows how to get on them. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone tough enough to take it on.

This place has a brand new owner that has become heavily involved with the day to day activities at the ranch. The owner offered me a full refund for my previous hunting experience but I declined and said I just want an opportunity to hunt. Bruce was non existent until the hunting was over, appearing on the last day. His wife Amy did a great job with meals during the day for our wives, and dinner for all in the evening. My wife and I stayed in our travel trailer, eating in the lodge. The friend I hunted with and I made and ate our breakfast in the kitchen, and then made our sandwiches to take with us into the field. While not being a really big deal, I'm sure this is not what I assumed I purchased. We bought leftover cow elk tags through Amy, hunting on leased land that was nothing like the description on their site. Going into the field, we did not see one cow elk or bull for that matter, in three days. The guide (their son) falling asleep on the ground mid-day next to the UTV with no explanation was a little puzzling at first, upsetting in the end, happening each day. Being from California, I felt we got flatlandered. We were there in late Sept. 2020, I do not recommend.

Just got back from a cow elk hunt with Bruce and his son Colton. Everyone in our group were extremely impressed with how well they took care of us. Picked us up early each morning and drove us up to where we hunted. Unloaded the heated 4 seated rangers and drove us around. Each day they had a lunch for us as well. Being a guide a charter captain I’ve been in the business for 20 years. I would highly recommend these guys to any of my family and friends. Plus we all tagged out! Thanks again Wood River Ranch. We will be back next year!
