5-Day Guided Elk & Mule Deer Hunt – Yellowstone Area
About this package
The hunting is done in a variety of manners, on both private and public land. We provide one guide for each 2 hunters. Generally, we try to be where we think the elk will be at daylight, and we get there by horse, 4-wheel drive, on foot, or a combination of the above. We often go on a stand for the first couple hours before continuing the day’s hunt. We often come in for a bowl of hot soup and a sandwich (and a nap) at mid-day, and continue the hunt in the afternoon. We typically spend some time and attention in the afternoon with a spotting scope locating game for the next morning. Our average mature mule-deer bucks are 20-24 inches wide, although we have taken several in the 30” class. We believe this may be the golden age of shooting large bulls in the Yellowstone region, with pictures of ten 380-410 B&C class bulls taken in the last two years. A $500 reverse trophy fee applies for shooting immature mule deer bucks (less than 4 points on one side or less than 22” wide inside the main beams).
