I hunted with Western Outdoor Adventure during 4th Elk season in 2025 at the Meesa location for a bull elk hunt. This was my second time hunting thru this outfitter. Lodging/Amenities Sleeping quarters were very comfortable, with snacks and drinks provided throughout the stay. Plenty of room in the cabin for as many people as needed, with still room to not feel like you are crowded. It is also onsite of the hunting property making it easier to get up and out the door hunting in the morning. Food was all homemade and delicious after a long day of hunting. Hunting Though the weather wasn’t ideal due to the warmer than expected temperatures for November, we were able to make the most out of the elk hunt. Working with the Andrew (Guide) each day, we were able to make a game plan on how we best thought we could find the elk based on what was on the trail camera the night before and the guides overall knowledge of the property. Whether sitting and glassing over a large area on a cliff edge, sitting in ground blinds where elk had been known to move through or hiking up into the higher parts of the property looking for signs and elk bedding down, we were able to put ourselves in good positions throughout the entire trip if the elk decided to move down from the high grounds. Overall I recommend working with Western Outdoor Adventures for your next hunt. Even though we were not able to bag an elk this trip, we were presented with opportunities to be successful. We worked with a very knowledgeable guide to help us throughout the entire trip that utilized knowledge from multiple seasons of hunting to put us in the best position. That coupled with the amenities of the food and lodging made for a fun week hunting in Colorado.

I have hunted with Western Outdoor Adventures and Jeff for the past 15 years. Bull elk, cow elk and mule deer. Included in some of these hunts were my wife, son and daughter. Jeff and his team of guides have always made my family and me feel welcome. Jeff is a very good friend. This year I had the opportunity to hunt 2025 4th season for bull elk. The location in Mesa was new to us, but like everything else in the past the accommodations were awesome. Home cook meals each night were fantastic. My son and I saw elk and many deer during our hunt but successful hunts are not always measured by filling your tags. There are no guarantees in hunting. Both Jeff and Andrew (our guide) approached each day with 100% effort on their part. Both these guys took the time to explain the game plan throughout each day. Hunting with Western Outdoor Adventures and my son was a successful hunt with us booking a 2026 hunt.

We have been hunting with western outdoor adventures for several years, both youth and adult hunts for elk. Jeff Musgrave and his guides are a wealth of knowledge, contributing to the success of our many harvests. 2025 camp; accommodations were great with plenty of snacks and a wonderful warm meal after a day of hunting. Heading into this years hunt we knew the unseasonably warm weather might play a factor, similar to what it did in our home state. Despite the odds; Jeff put in the work of scouting to give us the best opportunity. In 7 years this was the 1st time we didnt see an elk in Colorado. However we dont care for high fence hunts shooting at caged animals and this is not that it is pure wild and no guarantees. The mountain views and hikes in and out were amazing along with mule deer and other creatures we saw. Thank you Jeff for making this all possible we look forward to our next adventure! This was my second hunt with Western Outdoor Adventures, LLC. Both were the unit 42 late cow hunt. Both times the guides were outstanding. They’re just like hunting with an extremely talented friend. They go above and beyond in all aspects of the hunt, and they live to hunt. Jeff’s hunting area is phenomenal, with elk all over the place, seeing herds of100+ elk, even in in a “bad” weather elk year such as this one. Overall I couldn’t be more than pleased with this outfit. So much so, as I did when I returned home last year, I have rebooked for next year again!

dreamed of this hunt for many years....but it was such a disappointment. I know that the listed success rates are not true. There were 6 hunters on final rife season. We had 2 guides for 6 hunters....not 1 guide for 2 hunters. Only 1 hunter saw elk to shoot at, Hunting ranches are too close together....weather was warm which i'm sure didn't help...but there was no other options..placed on box blinds or boulders to hunt. Not my idea of a guided hunt. Jeff was nice but probably a used car salesman before a guide...warning to hunters...I'm afraid that you will also be disappointed and be taken for a lot of money...

I booked a 1 on 1 mule deer rifle hunt with Western Outdoor Adventures. My guide was top notch. Micheal was very knowledgeable, professional and just a great all around guy. He never pushed me towards a particular deer. Listened to what I was after and offered advise on the animals I saw. So more than a dozen bucks in the morning hunt with 3 being shooters. And upwards of 50 does. Not to mention a huge herd of elk with 6 nice bulls. I was able to harvest a nice 5x5 in the first 5 hours. Never saw another hunter. Would highly recommend them!

October 30, 2025. Two of my friends and I just finished a 5 day second season elk hunt with Jeff. The house was comfortable, food was good and the guides were friendly. I wish they would have done some scouting before we got there so we could have hunted property with some elk sign. We spent most of our time riding around glassing for elk on property that the other guides had already glassed. They would take our friend to a property that we were at the day before and saw no elk or sign of elk. I will never pay $7000 again to ride around and look at property with no elk or elk sign. Jeff is a salesman.

5 day hunt 10/25-10/29. Good accommodations, good food provided and our guide Ryan was a nice young man and worked hard. Now, 3 guys, $21,000 excluding the $800+ license fee, and not a single Elk seen. Spent countless hours on the roadside or road right of ways glassing empty hillsides. Weather will probably be the blame, but some pre hunt scouting to know patterns and animal activity would have been appreciated for the fee paid. After me and two friends dished out 22 thousand dollars we were expecting to get a hunt of a lifetime and that was not what happened. Jeff Musgrave the owner is a great salesman he will tell you what you want to hear. We hunted 5 days and never seen an elk or any elk sign that wasn’t at least a week or two old. Our guides did a good job but they couldn’t put us on elk. I would have thought that Jeff or his main guide Cody could have at least reached out to us to see how things were going but nothing. I would not book another hunt with Western Outdoor Adventures

Scheduled a 5-day elk hunt, only to be fed a bunch of lies to get us excited. Our guide claimed the hunting area was teeming with game and fresh tracks, but it was all a load of garbage. The truth came out on the first day when he admitted he had no idea why his boss, Jeff, sent us there because our chances of spotting elk were slim to none. The whole experience was a complete letdown, with our guide constantly changing his story and losing all credibility. Absolutely terrible.

My cousin and I choose Western Outdoor Adventures (WOA) based on a referral. We choose the Guided Rifle Elk Hunt in October of 2025. It was the best hunting experience of my life. Not only because I harvested a trophy bull elk, but also because of the full service. Jeff Musgrave and his Team of guides are knowledgeable about hunting, elk movement patterns, and adhering to hunting laws/regulations. The guides are very sensitive to the hiking abilities of the hunters at +/- 7000-foot elevations. Their service included elk retrieval, transportation to the processor, and to the taxidermist. Our hunting cabin was very comfortable and came well stocked with food. The camp we were on near Mesa had a great sense of camaraderie with our fellow hunters. It was the most exciting hunt I have ever had, yet the most relaxing because of all the details that WOA takes care of.

Just had a 5-day hunt with Western Big Game Outfitters specifically our guide and the owner Jeff. I was connected with Western Big Game Outfitters from a sales representative from one of the camo companies who used to guide for Jeff. It's state of the art high-end facility with extreme comfort at camp. Jeff, his wife, and the guides do a really nice job of making you feel at home with great food and family style environment during dinner. If you are trying to do a rugged backcountry hunt this is not for you this is definitely more luxury. Jeff has multiple pieces of property with different hunting terrain environments to capture the best of all worlds. Bulls ranging from 250 to 350. Jeff does a really good job of not over pressuring areas but hunting the fringes and outskirts even during the rut. His guides respect him and have great communication with one another. Tons of experienced knowledge and had a great time.

Ignore the google name I have on this..I along with three others booked an elk hunt with Jeff, the owner. It went extremely smooth and the area to hunt was amazing. Unfortunately the bulls responded on the first week only once on the first morning and left us wanting. Jeff switched strategies and put us on a group that came through is property. Amazing. We just got back from the 3rd season rifle (2023) and I wanted to take a moment to send a review. We did a DIY drop camp on one of Jeff’s properties. Unfortunately none of us got an elk or even saw one. There were a few things working against us, temps were in mid-60’s and I think last year’s herd loss had a lot to do with it. I can say that Jeff was great to work with, answered all our questions in a timely manner and got us on the property as promised. Camp had everything set up with all supplies he said would be there. He took time to show us around and offer his tips for hunting the property Overall it was an amazing experience on a beautiful property! I archery elk hunted with Western Outdoor Adventures last September. They provided and did everything they said they would. My guides name was Cauy whom was very knowledgeable and more importantly he was a great person. We saw elk on every trip and some really nice bucks. He called a bull into 18 yards our second morning of hunting and I shot it. I just hated that my hunting trip was over so quickly. I have hunted with a few other outfitters but this is the only one that is the real deal. Don’t waste your money and time going anywhere else. I will never hunt with another outfitter. If you have a problem with any of these guys you probably need to take a hard look at yourself.

Will further update this review after the litigation with these guys is concluded, but unless you want to be incredibly disappointed, seek out a different service. What we hoped to be a once in a lifetime hunt with friends turned into a legal nightmare after the owner of this outfit dropped the ball. Avoid these guys, and spend a little more money to go with a better guide service.
