About this package

Join us for an unforgettable elk hunt in Wyoming's prime Big Horn habitat. Whether you prefer the close-range excitement of archery or the precision of a rifle, we offer options tailored to your hunting style. September is a special time to hunt, coinciding with the rut, where bugling bulls respond to calls and provide an exhilarating challenge. These elk hunts take place deep in Wyoming’s Big Horn Mountains — country that’s as wild and beautiful as it gets. Getting there is part of the adventure. From the first morning ride into the hunting area to the last pack out, you’ll experience the hunt the way it’s meant to be: on horseback, surrounded by unspoiled wilderness and the sounds of the high country coming to life. Our hunts take place on both public and private land, combining rugged adventure with comfortable accommodations. Stay in framed tents equipped with wood stoves and cozy cots, enjoy hearty homestyle meals in a separate cooking and dining tent. It’s rustic living with a true western touch--the kind of camp that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time, without sacrificing comfort.Reaching camp involves a moderate to difficult horseback ride through rugged mountain terrain. You don’t need to be an avid rider, but you should be comfortable on horseback and physically prepared for a backcountry hunt. Basic riding ability, reasonable fitness, and a positive attitude go a long way toward making your experience enjoyable and successful. This is a true western adventure that rewards preparation, determination, and a willingness to embrace the challenges of hunting in Wyoming’s high country.Techniques include spot-and-stalk as well as targeting areas where elk cross between food and water sources. Archers should be comfortable with shots out to 40 yards for the best chance of success, while rifle hunters should be prepared for shots ranging from 200 to 400 yards. We’re happy to discuss equipment, ammunition, and shooting preparations to help ensure you’re ready for the hunt.Weather and elk behavior dictate each day’s strategy, making every hunt unique. Come prepared to work hard and adapt to varying conditions, which can change dramatically within a single 6-day hunt. With 20 years of experience guiding in Area 41, one of the most reputable regions in the Big Horns, we take pride in providing the high-quality hunt we advertise. Availability is limited, so contact us today to reserve your spot and prepare for an adventure of a lifetime.
