Andy has trained my dog Arvin for several months. I picked him up mid December. Trained the way I like them . Full control without hacking at him as well as not blowing on the whistle like some cop directing traffic. When we change directions he comes around. Perfect recall. Thank you Andy for training my GSP. Very satisfied. Sincerely Jim Hartwell

As a hunter I understand not every hunt is lights out. However, coming to a farm and paying for birds I expect a higher chance for success. We were a party of three, running two experienced dogs. We bought the minimum of 5 pheasant per person, not knowing we’d be placed on a 340 acre field. Talk about finding needles in a hay stack. We systematically hunted the field for 5:30 hours total, saw 4 birds and yielded two. After a disappointing hunt it was time to square up with the bill, where I then found out I was paying more than advertised according to their website; more salt in the wound. I’m by no means trying to bash their business. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. But I will not be going back.

Watch out for Colorado sunflowers in the fall. I'd recommend a long-sleeve. Fantastic terrain, guides, and dogs sure made for a great guided pheasant hunt experience!

The best place for hunting

I’ve researched several places to take my bird dogs and so grateful I chose Steel Fork Pheasants! I don’t worry about them when I leave them with Andy. Andy is top notch! He come with rave reviews on training bird dogs and is very reasonable, respectable, professional, and trustworthy! I wouldn’t choose any other! I may have to drive a bit to get there but is so worth it and my peace of mind! I have a 7 yr old English pointer and a 2 1/2 yr d wild GSP. He gives me updates and sends a pic or two!! Andy Taylor is THE BEST! Thank you Andy!

We usually hunt wild birds on CRP in Kansas. We've also occasionally been invited to hunt on private or commercial pheasant preserves. Rod and Rhonda have made quite a nice habitat venue for hunters like us. It's turned out to be much better an experience than I had hoped for.

I wanted to get in some training time with my pup. When I explained to Rod and Rhonda what I was doing they were both very helpful in putting me in a situation to accomplish my goals. They both offered great advice, and made sure I had everything I needed.

I've been hunting here since they first opened and since than after a hundred or so hunts, I still haven't gone back to the other bird clubs. Any guestions?

Yesterday was my third hunt at steel fork, I used to live at Ft Carson, CO for four years, and i would hunt with my old NCO James here at steel fork. I drove back from WI my home just to visit my significant others family and hunt. I learned that i have lost some of my accuracy and missed majority of birds, after the hunt Rod replaced our birds with more from the pen so i had meat to take home. Steel fork will have a lifetime customer.

Hunting at Steel Fork is like being lucky enough to have family with hunting ground. Some pheasant clubs have a reputation for being stuffy, uppity places but that is not the case here. Rod, Rhonda and Andy are just a great, down to earth farm family who have developed a very enjoyable place to hunt. We'd all like enough wild birds to hunt but since that is not going to happen in this part of Colorado, this is the next best thing. A membership is a great value compared to driving hundreds of miles to pursue bird hunting.

Great people. Great dogs if you need a guide they are great as well. Plan to hunt all day and plan to walk just a little lol. You are in for a real treat if you hunt here.
★★★★★
The most kind and down to Earth people. Recommend hunting here in a heartbeat!!!! I will never go anywhere else! They have my business for life. Lots of birds and great fields to hunt.
★★★★★
I like Steel Forks Pheasants. I’m using them to train my bird dog on quail. Rod and his family are great. Very friendly and helpful. And they have access to a lot of grassland ideal for quail. Try them - I think you’ll like them, too!

Great birds, dogs and people.

My kids and I have been going to Steel Fork Pheasants for about 6 years now. We love this place! Rod and Rhonda are the best. They have always made us feel at home. They care about kids and they want them to experience the outdoors. Not only is this a great place to hunt but it is also a great place to introduce your children to the outdoor sports. Awesome place!

I've hunted pheasant clubs in other states and several of the clubs in Colorado and Steel Forks is by far the best hunting experience, dog training and bang for your buck. Their birds are the closest thing to wild pheasant I've hunted on any preserve. If you've hunted many pen raised birds you know that it's not uncommon for a dog to retrieve a bird that didn't flush and while my dog may not mind, it's not very exciting for the hunter. Of the hundreds of birds we've hunted at SFP I can only think of a couple times where this has happened. Unlike any other club I've hunted, when you hunt a field it's yours the entire day. Rod and Rhonda are damn good people and they want you to enjoy the experience instead of feeling rushed because another party has the afternoon hunt reserved at that field. Awesome folks, great birds and great prices.
★★★★★
This one is real easy!!!! Great people, good Birds and Awesome Food! You will not ever hunt at a facility like this. Rod and Rhonda knock it out of the park for service and lots of fun. Thank you so much!

It would be worth the trip just for Rod and Rhonda's hospitality (and cinnamon roles) not to mention the fact that you get your dog as much bird work in a day as I would have time for in a season driving to public land. Rod will provide you with birds and a large area with good cover for you to set up training situations as you see fit. Very nice club house and warm area to clean your birds too. I will be back!
