We do this trip every year. Great venue for a corporate retreat or friends who want to shoot some ducks without all the logistics required for a wild bird shoot.

Skeeter Branch was an excellent choice for a quick two day gateway. We arrived on a Monday afternoon, settled into our overnight cabin and then headed down to the gathering area and enjoyed some socializing with a fire and live guitar signing. Eat and mouthwatering steak dinner cooked by Skeeter Branch people. Went to bed and then woke up at 6 threw the duck gear on and was shuttled to the stand by tractor. The ducks were flying great and took our limit while watching the duck dogs retrieve the birds. Once back to the gathering area we eat a delicious breakfast while they cleaned the duck meat for us. Once breakfast was done we loaded our gear up and headed out around noon. Great time will definitely be back next year!

As close to wild that you can get. The Cathy's always give you a wonderful experience. Just about an hour and a half from Atlanta. You may bring your own dog! Great lodging.
★★★★★
Breath-taking views, great hospitality, and terrific experience even if you don't hunt.
★★★★★
Absolutely amazing experience. Our group books one hunt every year here. The Cathys are incredibly hospitable and great people who make the stay as fun and comfortable as possible. The food alone is worth the trip, but combined with the hunting it makes for a phenomenal time. There's a ton of ducks that make every hunt wildly exciting. Cannot recommend this place enough.

I had the pleasure of hunting the Skeeter Branch Hunting Preserve of Lavonia, Georgia, about two weeks ago; and perhaps a 5 star rating warrants some explanation. Certainly wild ducks will be more 'wily' than raised ducks, and multiple species of birds challenges a hunter's skill absolutely. But... Setting aside distinctions between a Waterfowl Preserve 'shoot' versus a traditional wild-wetlands "Hunt", there remains the altogether same experience of marksmanship, skill, sportsmanship, comraderie, and variables that together constitute some element of 'chance' or 'luck'. Importantly, when hunting with "newbies", more environmental stability usually translates into more Safety... and, as in my case, this degree of control makes for IDEAL hunting for retrievers on their first hunts. 5 years old, good with hand signals and Death to tennis balls, this was my Black Lab's - (ECHO) - first time hunting. Coming from out of state, I was delighted - and fortunate - that Skeeter Branch was able to schedule me for a hunt on fairly short notice. The Georgia Preserve Shooting License was reasonable and easy to purchase online. My contact and Guide (Danny) was friendly, courteous, and professional. He determined my experience level before assigning me to a pond by myself. I appreciated this especially. While I truly enjoy duck hunting in company with others, a dog on their first few hunts CAN be very difficult, and requires absolute attention on the owner's part. This monopolizes the blind, and can be very aggravating to others both in and around the blind. Fortunately, 'Echo' performed Very Well. I am so glad I brought here here. Sure, I had to get out of the blind a couple times to help her out with hand signals, and accordingly flared dozens of mallards that could've shortened my hunt.... But...with an absolutely gorgeous bluebird day,.... ducks flying.... good-dog a-fetching.... Why would I want to do that......? Can't wait to go back. Bill Hagenmeyer
