🐴 Trail Ride Review 👌 We had friends visiting from out of town that wanted to experience a trail ride! Zach, Margaret, and Damon took us on a scenic relaxing 2 hr loop. The horses were well behaved and the guides gave lots of attention to detail to make sure everyone was comfortable and set up well with tack and horses to fit the individual! Highly recommend for reasonable price and exceptional service!

We were greeted when we got out of our truck. Horses and staff were ready for ride. Staff was nice, introduced themselves and the horses. Staff made sure stirrups were just right for everyone. Girls had a great time riding. Horses were amazing, especially for my daughter who has never ridden a horse but did great on her own. Would book here again.

Three of us went on a mule deer pronghorn combo hunt together out of the main lodge in Sundance. We came the first week of October which was opening week of season. From morning of day 1 we were watching both mule deer and pronghorn bucks that we would have been happy to shoot. We were guided by Zack who wanted us to hold out a bit, but it still only took until the morning of day 3 to have all 6 animals down. Animal numbers were good and we looked through a handful of deer and tons of pronghorn before pulling the trigger. We even saw a few whitetail and elk around while glassing. The room was all good, the lodge hangout areas were nice, and the meals were all delicious. It’s not the cheapest hunt out there but you definitely get what you pay for here!

Friendly guides. Good food and lodging. Successful hunt. Edit - They lost my elk. Left head with them for European mount. They assured me it would be taken care of and I could coordinate shipping. After numerous calls and attempts to get answers from both Seven J and their taxidermist I’ve given up. At least I have pictures.

We had an absolutely magical time on our trail ride with 7J! From the booking phone call I felt it was going to be great as the person we spoke to was super friendly, informative, and communicated with us everything we needed. When we got there it was an easy checkin and the horses were all ready to go. They made mounting easy, especially for my tiny 7 year old and elderly parents. The trail itself was absolutely breathtaking, and the horses were gentlemen and required very minor correction. Id love to come back here year after year. Highly recommend!

Excellent horseback riding experience. Great guides. Great horses. We did a 2 hour trip with our kids and it was so much fun.

Beautiful trails, horses and people. Everything went smoothly and we couldn’t have asked for a better ride. Cody was a wonderful and friendly guide :)

I returned again to Seven J Outfitters (for the fourth time), and brought my son. There were 12 hunters in camp. We saw tons of deer and many bucks chasing hot does. Every single one tagged out (11 whitetail bucks and 1 mule deer buck). Half the hunters tagged out on the first day. They moved us more than once to a new location after one of their guides spotted a "shooter" they had been observing. This permitted me to harvest that 11 point awesome buck. My son also took an outstanding buck, which was thrilling for his FIRST deer hunt ever! The photos speak for themselves. I read a couple of other reviews that were less than complimentary and they do not describe the Seven J Outfitters I have known and hunted since 2013. Any experienced hunter knows that no outfitter can guarantee the results of any hunt; you don't order a "140 point" buck like it's a fast food joint! One hunter in camp was there for his 8th time, and another for the 5th time. I would not have gone back if I did not have an excellent experience over the years (which has included an Antelope, three whitetail bucks (one 150" buck that was published in NRA Hunter Magazine), and a mule deer buck. We are now booking a bull elk hunt there.

I have brought 110 hunters to Seven J over the last 11 years for Whitetail hunting. These are friends/ acquaintances of mine- no monetary benefit to me by bringing them here- just comraderie and love of the hunt. Our success rate has been in the 90 percent range even with the EHD outbreak of several years ago. I am in my 70's and have experienced over 29 guided Whitetail hunts in a couple Canadian provinces and several other States. I keep coming back to Seven J because of the quality hunting and lodging they offer, which is first class.

We had a great experience as a group. My daughter had requested a elk trip for her graduation gift and she had a great time and was fortunate enough to harvest a nice 5x5 elk! Chris our guide was knowledgeable and very fun to hunt with and did a great job running the camp. Would return in the future!

Deer hunters: if you are looking for quantity NOT quality this is your outfitter. I seen a pile of deer at one of the locations I hunted. The other location I didn’t see much at all. I was looking to harvest a mature buck (4yrs + or 140”+) when I did see 2 deer to fit this description I was literally screwed by cattle! Then I had to physically herd cattle off the field they were not suppose to be on and then had to fix fence to keep them off and that didn’t work they just found another spot to get in and ruined another evening hunt! I am 38 in very good/great physical condition and was paired with a gentleman 32 years my elder…yeeaa so he obviously couldn’t go and do like I could and his hunting desires were not like mine…so I felt handicapped and was forced to hunt locations where there was no deer I was looking to harvest just simply to get him to harvest one I think because he was a return client…I was respected for NOT shooting baby deer “2 1/2 yr old” but to me i didn’t pay thousands of dollars travel across the country for something like that. They advertised 200,000+ acres of hunting leases but I only hunted 2 locations. One location boasted a lot of deer and where I did see what i considered a shooter and the other location I seen 8 deer in 3 morning hunts! That was it! I asked to get a doe tag so I could harvest a doe or two because you literally see hundreds of them and was told they were sold out?!? How does that happen?? My guide “Troy” was an outstanding man! I really truly enjoyed hunting with him and learning how they hunted. He did try and get me a deer like I wanted…I feel like his hands may have been tied somewhat because of the older gentleman I was paired with as well as locations for me to hunt…which sucked but i definitely recommend hunting with him. He has been there nearly 20 years and is very knowledgeable! The accommodation at the lodge was ok/good. Definitely was NOT impressed like I was thinking after seeing it on tv for over 20 years. Tiny bedroom with bunk beds with a community bathroom with the neighbor. My experience with that was ok…I had to find the gentleman 4 times to unlock the door so I could use the facilities! There is no washer/dryer on site…there is no outside fire place to enjoy the evening and stars….the archery range was ok…targets had screws drilled in holding antlers on and all but 2 targets where bag target…my arrows have insert/outserts on them and you can only shoot them in foam targets so was limited there….coffee in the morning had NO creamer…weird…no snacks for the afternoon or when hanging around during the 4-6hr lull in the afternoon before the evening hunt…food was good but just wasn’t what i expected literally had hamburger helper one evening and dinning area was small…18 hunters in camp + guides and it was a tight packed in fit. This was my first ever whitetail guided hunt. So it’s not like I’ve done this before. I had just successfully hunted antelope on public ground with a bow the week prior so my optimism was high thinking being with an outfitter of this caliber I would be put on a good deer…not so much. For me, the overall feeling in camp was more pointed and focused toward elk hunters and return clients. Nearly all of the return clients harvested immature small deer. Just not what I was there for. I was super Happy to see these other hunters with a smile on their face because that’s ultimately what hunting is about! Shoot what makes you happy! For me, I just couldn’t shoot a deer like that. With that long winded review it just wasn’t what I was looking for and I will not be returning. I was there for whitetail 2nd week September. Good luck to future hunters there! I hope this helps!

Hunted the 1st week of elk rifle season 2023 in Bliss Creek Camp. A friend and I made the drive to Wyoming from Ohio where we met the Outifitter in Dubois. About an hour or so drive to Bliss Creek from Dubois to our hunting camp. We unloaded our gear and loaded up horses for the ride into camp. Sights were incredible and guides were awesome. All days we were up before dark, eat a breakfast, load up and head out on horses. Camp cooks were awesome and friendly just like the guides. The location is beautiful and can see the Tetons from most high ridges near camp. My friend and I had a great experience, but there were no elk in this area. A little too expensive for a camping trip. We saw more other hunters (2) than we did Elk (0). So please understand this is not private property or leased ground, its all public. Just extremely disappointing to invest in a guided hunt and not even have the opportunity to chase the animal you're after. We were told that the bear population had an impact on the elk in this camp, which I believe is factual seeing a lot of bear. We saw a lot of mule deer and a few moose, again we saw 0 elk. We met up after the hunt with other 7J hunters whom we had met in Dubois. Two other groups taken by 7J to different locations had apparently had ample opportunities. My friend and I however never saw a single elk in our 5 days of hunting. I don't mean for this post to Bash 7J as Jeff and his son treated us well and I understand how hunting goes. Posting to make future hunters aware that there is a possibility of seeing zero elk here and the rifle is not even remotely close to 75% opportunity rate. We had four hunters in our camp with 0 opportunity and 0 elk seen. And I assume by another review the 2nd week had 0 opportunity as well. 8 hunters and no opportunity. Happy hunting....

This is how my elk hunt started and it went downhill from here. I got a text message at 7:30 asking where I was from someone at 7J. Apparently my camp location was moved and the meeting time was 7am. No one from 7J bothered to communicate that with me. The information I was provided was a 9am meet up a Dubois Hotel. I spent the next hour playing text tag and trying to locate my group, who was leaving town without me. DO NOT HUNT the Bliss Creek camp for elk after the first week of the rifle season. Between hunting pressure, grizzle bears and the weather, the elk will most likely be gone. It was stated by the previous owner of the camp, who was the main guide, the elk leave soon after the first week of the rifle season. My hunt was 2023 in Bliss Creek, second week, and it was the WORST outfitted hunt I've been on. I never even got to put a round in my rifle to shoot at one, saw next to nothing. I've done back country outfitted elk hunts before so I know what to expect. This is a large commercial outfitting operation that is about quantity not quality, you don't want to spend 10k+ and be one of the ones who falls through the cracks. Also, if you're a solo hunter, spend the extra money and do 1 on 1. You have no idea who you may be paired with and it may have a dramatic negative impact on your hunt (hint hint). My advice, use a smaller more personal outfitter. This hunt was advertised as a full five day hunt and we only hunted four and a half. I was told by my guide they only hunt the morning of the last day because of the logistics of getting an elk out the evening of the last day. Disappointed doesn't even come close to describing what I experienced.

It’s been over a week since we left and feel it’s now time. This trip was very stressful from the time we arrived. We felt unwanted and disrespected upon arrival and nothing changed throughout the stay. The first day, We sat in a truck in a driveway beside a small home. We then rode a rancher, took a left out of the driveway, on to the highway and WE WERE STOPPED BY A WYOMING STATE POLICE patrol man. When Todd saw the policeman stopping in front of us with his blue lights on, he veered to the left and sank the front of the rancher in a culvert pipe hole. Nearly throwing us all through the front wind glass before trying to escape the ditch backwards. The state police asked for registration of the rancher, which Todd seemed unaware of what that was. Todd showed the officer a factory decal on the side of the rancher. He then went on to explain to us how the Wyoming road laws work. We then drove to the barn and got the truck and drove behind the barn in fields where we saw nothing. He did get out of his truck and prank someone’s door with a full size picture. Said the man would get “a kick out of it when he returned home…. Day three Erin asked the kitchen staff if they were making lunch for her and my son. The answer was, “I hadn’t planned on it”. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I immediately sent an email to Ashley and she replied promptly. She stated that the kitchen staff did offer the lunches the first two days and also offered “leftovers”. LEFTOVERS?? I think we’d all had enough “leftovers” by this day, being that your practice was to bring out leftover dessert at each supper. NO THANKS!! She and Andrew drove to town to a restaurant. The third day I ask if we could sit in a blind because all we had done was ride and “glass”. We went to an old wooden blind on the top of a ledge. During the hour and a half there, Todd chose to fix/ repair the door and window of the blind. I’m sorry, but I didn’t pay for your guide to perform maintenance during my hunt. Days past and we are still just riding around in a truck with Todd. We’re seeing bucks and does. Seeing bucks that we’d be more than willing to shoot but yet, told no by Todd. Even once he asked, “are y’all happy with that buck?”, in which we both agreed yes, but he started the truck and left…. We did get a long shot through brush. A miss… The fourth I asked Todd to let me and Kady sit in the upper new stand by the food plot. The only one plot that I saw outside of Todd claiming that all the fields were good plots. Yeah, whatever. He did indeed take us to it and stood down below rattling antlers for seconds before leaving in his truck. We saw a 8-10 point buck, and messaged Todd. He messaged back and said it wasn’t on your property, for us to not shoot. Seems the likely case. I asked Todd to come get us. We were done…I let Todd in on all these things that I’ve explained to you. He kept quiet for the ride back to the lodge. I ask him, isn’t that what off season is for, fixing/replacing blinds and the such. Apparently not, because we had to drive back to the lodge to get what appeared to be an old school desk chair so my daughter and I could sit in a worn out ground blind on an awkward hillside angle. The zipper on the blind was broken. He had to tie it closed. It had holes in it. Midday Friday, I messaged Todd and said Kady wasn’t going but that I would give it another try. She was too scared and disappointed by this time. He messaged me, assuring that she should go. Kady went. We did get a shot. Todd immediately claimed she missed. She didn’t. We found hair. Todd wasn’t quick to look. He even said, there’s “no hope”. Kady said to me on the walk to the truck, “I feel like he’s making us walk “the walk of shame We could still hunt Saturday but Friday evening we packed our bags and left. Road hunting at its best if you ask me. No real hunt experience here. Only rude owners and staff. Seven J is a disappointment for us. If I could give negative stars I would.

I had the unfortunate experience of booking a cow elk hunting trip with Seven J Outfitters, and I must say it was nothing short of a disaster. From start to finish, my trip was riddled with disappointment and regret. My father and I booked a 2 on 1 three-day hunt which ended up being a 3 on 1 when another hunter didn’t show up and we got stuck with another hunter who was handicapped and couldn’t walk farther that 50 feet. I wouldn’t even call what we did was hunting, all we did was drive around the same pasture in a side by side for 2 and a half days with no elk or signs of elk the entire time we were out there. After the first day of ranchers hauling cattle out of the pasture any reputable outfitter would have found us a different spot to hunt but no we just keep driving in circles opening the same gates. It was supposed to be a three full day hunting but our guide decided to call it at noon on the third day since there wasn’t a point to be out there using low fuel on the atv as an excuse. We brought up these issues when we got back to the lodge with Deb Smith but she didn’t care stating that was part of hunting and got very irritated that we even brought it up. In conclusion, my experience with Seven J was deeply disappointing and frustrating. I would strongly advise against booking a hunting trip with them. Save your money and find a more reputable outfitter that can provide an actual hunting experience.

Sat in a truck for 7 days. Would have been one thing If we could go looking or at least for a hike but guide said we had to just sit in the truck and glass. Not much of "hunting" if you ask me.

Jeff and Deb always put on a great hunt. This year was no exception. Be prepared to spend a lot of time looking. The deer are there.

My brother and I undertook our first WY hunt this year with Seven J Outfitters. We found the whole experience to be extraordinary from top to bottom. Thanks to all.

We have been hunting with Seven J for the last seven years. Our annual trip to Wyoming has become the highlight of our year. Jeff and Deb run a fantastic operation with great food, accommodations, guides in one of the most beautiful places you can hunt. They have access to huge tracts of hunting ground and can provide you with the opportunity to harvest a variety of animals. Their success rates are directly attributable to their wonderfully knowledgeable guides who will provide you with a team effort to find the animal you are looking for. Definitely book a hunt with them. it is worth the wait and the money. You will not find a better overall experience.

I have hunted here two times. I have been on lots of hunts over 35 years everywhere and 7 Jay's is the best. Great people, great lodge and lots of deer. Am going back.

Third time with this highly successful outfitter. I was impressed with the photos, which you can see are dated, and the success statistics, so I tried them out (whitetail and antelope combo hunt was first of three hunts starting in 2013). Bagged out on both first day each with nice buck and pronghorn. Returned a second time in 2016 with hunting buddy. Again harvested two nice bucks. He got a mule deer and I got a 150" whitetail. Returned a third time in 2019 and we both harvested nice mule deer bucks. High quality hunting areas, experienced and knowledgeable guides (highly recommend Clint Schneider), clean and new lodge, excellent cooking and accommodations. You will not be disappointed.

A slice of heaven. The best place we have ever stayed. If you like a peaceful place to stay and like to see deer, Turkey and other animals running around this is the place to be. Jessica is so nice. Hospitality is fantastic

This was my second year with Seven J Outfitters. I have learned to control my excitement of seeing so many quality bucks. I very much enjoyed the spot and stalk technique used. The staff was accommodating and friendly. I will be back.
