We booked a four hour ride and were the only guests with two guides. We were visiting in early June so trails started to bloom with flowers and it was beautiful. The water river was high, so horses didn’t seem happy to cross. We rerouted and the views in the second part were amazing. About 3.5 miles into the ride, my son’s horse got startled all of a sudden and went off trail. Next second I knew he was thrown off and my horse got startled and I was thrown off too. I landed on lower back hard- thanks for my backpack saved me some. In the end we were able to move on and the owner was able to pick us up in his truck and shortened the ride. We are back home now and reflect on this accident- we are not blaming anyone. The guides and owner were super nice. But we do want to warn people that there is a real risk in riding and be careful. I had a minor fracture in my lower back but it will heal by time. It could have been worse. Hope it will not happen to anyone in the future.

The 90 minute horseback ride was a great experience. The route was scenic and relaxing with beautiful views throughout, and the ride itself was easy and enjoyable even for a casual rider. We did the 9am ride and it was a fun, peaceful way to start the day. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable outdoor activity. Pro tip: check out the hot springs along the road up when you’re done!

LOVED my horse trail ride with Brit!! <3 She was fantastic, super sweet, and just an absolute pleasure as a guide. It ended u being just me and her, and she was a great help and person to ride with. I WILL be coming back and bringing family next time!

Beautiful wilderness ride with a gracious guide, Britt. Horses and mules were sure-footed and we had an enjoyable half day ride.

Yurt was awesome! Great bed and very clean. Enjoyed a 90 minute trail ride on a horse! Beautiful location and the night sky was amazing. We have already booked another trip up in a couple of weeks.

This has been the second time our kids did the Nature Trail Loop and it's always one of the highlights of our Grandjean trips! The guides are so great with the kids and make them feel very comfortable. Looking forward to next year!

This is an awesome getaway place. All the staff were friendly. We took a 4 hour horseback ride and had a great time. You definitely get to disconnect from the phone and internet as there is no service except messages by satellite. We stayed in one of the cabins, rustic and with the bare necessities. More like camping without the tent LOL. Definitely on the list of places to revisit.

Wonderful guides made us feel safe and comfortable. The horses were smart and well trained and the trail was beautiful, even after the fire. We had a group of 5, ages ranging from 8-67 and everyone had a great time exploring one of our favorite places from a new perspective - horseback!
★★★★★
It was a great experience. The horseback riding was a memorable and beautiful day. The sawtooth mountains are gorgeous and the horses are amazing. I definitely recommend booking a horseback riding trip at the sawtooth lodge.

Although we did not stay in a room/cabin during our visit (we tent camped), it was a wonderful and energizing experience being there! Loved the location, good amenities, and friendly staff!

Wow wow! I can’t say enough good thing about our horseback riding experience. Our guide was so kind, knowledgeable, and chatted with us on the ride. He just had me and my friend out which was great we weren’t crammed with a big group. We saw a waterfall and great scenery! Worth every penny.

I took my 2 girls, ages 5 and 7 on a trail ride this weekend. I was a little nervous, since they've not ridden previously, but this outfitter was excellent. We only booked a 30 minute ride on their recommendation since young kids don't always want to be on a horse for longer. But when our guide, Caleb, saw how much they were enjoying it, he gave us the option to extend! It was beautiful and the girls had fun the entire time. He took such good care of my youngest and had her on a lead line the whole time. She felt so safe, even though she doesn't always warm up to strangers or new experiences. My oldest got to lead us all back to the barn at the end of the ride. She was positively glowing with pride. It was such a small thing to allow her since the horses know the way, but it made her day. We will never forget this experience. Thank you!

Accountability and communication can go a long way. Just got back from a drop camp hunt with this outfitter. Caleb abandoned us on the day we were supposed to be packed out. He stopped communicating with us mid week of our hunt when we asked for the timing on pack out. We had to haul hundreds of pounds of gear out on our own. 2 people. 4.5 miles. His only response was “I sent someone Friday to get you out”. Our contract says Saturday and all he had to do was text to make this a complete non issue. I think he was over booked with his guided side. In a situation like that all you have to do is apologize and be accountable. We are pretty reasonable people. He’s never reached out or said another word since leaving us stranded. $3,000 for tent and pack in/pack out. And he couldn’t even reach out? I would avoid this outfitter at all costs. But our bad experience with him can’t ruin the beauty of the sawtooth wilderness and the great time we had hunting there. I still highly recommend it, just skip the outfitter and camp at the base trails. Or pack yourself in… we just found out it’s humanly possibly (although not recommended). 😂

Had a good time and Cooper did a great job doing a half day horse ride. Thanks for the service!

We booked a spot trip to Middle Baron Lake with Sawtooth Wilderness Outfitters. It was about a 10 mile ride to the lake and this provided a great riding experience, views of amazing country and the opportunity to spend 3 nights at Baron Lake. Jacob and his family did an excellent job helping us prepare for the trip, kept us safe and dropped us off at a beautiful camp location. Jacob picked us up on our departure date and got us back to the barn. I have been backpacking for 25 plus years and this was my first horse supported trip. I will be back again.

What a class act! Our guide Jenny was very knowledgeable and eager to answer 2 hours of questioning from my 10 year old daughter. Very well mannered horses and what incredible scenery. We highly recommend the lodge and the outfitters, nothing like a soak in the hot springs after an incredible horseback ride. Thx Jenny, we will be back!!

Worth the long drive. Even it's summer the river was super cold. We found a small beach area where it was quiet and the river flow was low.
★★★★★
Such a great experience. I surprised my fiance (whom had never ridden before) with a 1 hour trail ride. I may have also remembered having more experience than I actually did. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and truly made feel at ease trotting through the forest with authentic conversation. The horses seemed intelligent, patient and well broke. We can't wait to schedule a larger, linger trail ride in the future.

Super nice people.

Milkshakes are the best. Enjoyed swimming in the pool. Last day of Summer and had the place to ourselves.

Booked a mountain lion hunt with Sawtooth Wilderness Outfitters in December 2019. Arrived at the airport and was picked up by Jake, my guide for the week. The food and lodging were exceptional and Jake was by far the most dedicated and hardest working guide I've ever had the pleasure to hunt with. Third day of hunting we tracked a beautiful tom through some of the most pristine wilderness I've seen. Being an experienced houndsman, coupled with great dogs Jake had the tom treed within an hour and we finished the job. By far the most exhilarating hunt I've experienced and one I plan to repeat again in the near future. If you're looking for Mountain Lion hunt, Sawtooth Wilderness Outfitters needs to be your first -and only- destination.

So beautiful. Lots to do and see. Hot pool to swim in. Hot springs that mix with the river to hike to. Wonderful little lodge that offered delicious food and company. Absolutely amazing place to visit in the fall. Bring snow chains in case of a snowstorm! Absolutely will be visiting again.

Have been trying to book an overnight ride for well over a month. I've left several messages and they can't be bothered to call me back.
