★★★★★This was the most well managed land and best coordinated hunting experience I’ve ever had. Jayden and Baylor are great dudes and very knowledgeable on the land they are assigned to manage. On average I saw around 3-4 bucks and 10-12 does EACH HUNT. Some of the guys saw 50+ deer from their stands in a single sit. Action was all day long so I sat all day each hunt and was not disappointed. There’s multiple tracts of land they manage and a wide variety of high end shooting houses, tried-and-true box stands and ladder stands on rotation to keep deer pressure low depending on your needs. We are already booked for 2027 and looking forward to it.
★★★★★My son and I went the first week of January for the early rut. We saw a lot of deer but nothing the meet the owners requirements. However, the accommodation were top notch, and the food was great. Mr. Curtis and his guides Baylor and Jayden were very hospitable to our needs and put us in the best places to get a shot at a mature buck. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a trophy hunt of a life time. We are going back next season.
★☆☆☆☆Deer hunting sucked had to hunt same 3-400 acre tracks with 6-9 different hunters. Seen 1 spike they’ll make you sit all day so they don’t have to feed you a good lunch. Sat 12hrs one day didn’t see a deer.
★★★★★I've hunted at multiple outfitters in various states and piney woods is number 1 as far as management, stand placement ,setups for correct wind ,Every set we were put in was well thought out in advance with the main objective to have a opportunity at a mature deer.Will has it figured out that's for sure, on average each person in my group was seeing 20 plus deer everyday, at times i thought I was in Kentucky if you wanna see what great genetics and great management looks like give piney woods a shot! My guide Baylor went above and beyond to get me my best shot at killing a mature deer . I think the dude is half deer . Greatest deer hunting I've ever experienced!

★★★★★I’ve been hunting with Will and crew for almost a decade and will continue to do so until I hang up my hunting boots. The experience they offer is absolutely top notch. Starting with the lodge and accommodations because I’m a bit of a neat freak. The lodge is always spotless as they clean it every day. I love the “no shoes inside” policy! All rooms, beds, and bathrooms are immaculate. You never have to worry about food at all. They keep a great snack, sandwich, and drink supply to take to the stands and the dinners are what I look forward to at the end of each day! I actually text pics of the dinners to my wife to make her jealous! As for the hunting, you will not find a better free range hunt in Alabama (or the south). These guys work all year to create the best hunting experience and it shows. Each stand or box blind is as clean as it gets. All are obviously kept up and in great condition if they aren’t brand new (which many are new). Every spot has great views, food plots, and feeders. I have never had a sit without seeing deer. Even when the weather doesn’t cooperate and you don’t expect to see movement, you will. I just can’t say enough about this outfit. It bothers be that they have any negative reviews. If you are looking for a guaranteed shot at a 200” deer, you’re clueless on hunting prices and shouldn’t be free range hunting in Alabama. Also, booking in advance means you’re rolling the dice on weather and other variables. Will and Jonah do everything they can to make sure each hunter has the opportunity at a mature buck. Owning a small business myself I’m aware that anyone can leave a negative review and there’s just no pleasing some people. I really do feel fortunate to have gotten in with these guys when I did. My rut at home usually ends in December so I’m always grateful to have this late season action. If you’re lucky enough to find available dates, book them before they are gone.

★★★★★Where to start. Me and my wife and a family friend made a 3 day hunt. I have been going on hunts for several years. Mr. Will and Joana were the best guides and host I have hunted with not to mention Mr. Will's mom's cooking. Words cant describe it book a hunt and find out first hand. Now we did not kill a deer, but we seen deer every set. Second morning Jimmy seen over 33 deer. Seen multiply bucks but did not meet the criteria Mr. Will has put in place to produce 130 + bucks. We will continue going back to Piney Woods as long as Mr. Will will have us. 5-Star all the way around lodge is spot less, made us fill at home from the time we got out of the truck.

From the moment we got out of our truck we were welcomed with such open arms and that loving southern hospitality! The lodge is absolutely STUNNING and SO CLEAN! The cleanest lodge I have ever stayed in! Also, THE BEST FOOD IN THE WORLD! Will and his family really go out of their way to make such amazing breakfast’s, lunches and dinners and do everything they can to make you feel at home! This was my Husband’s and I first “trophy hunt” and we are 100% coming back next year! Seen over 200 deer in 4 days, absolutely beautiful acres too! For ‘SID’s 1 star review he left down below just know he completed disrespected Will’s rules and home. ★☆☆☆☆When we walked in the lodge and seen the deer that was mounted in the 1950’s I knew we was in for a treat, treat it was 11 Hunters 0 legal deer I shot an illegal deer 8 point 13.5 spread and was treated real Hostile and I paid the $1000.00 fine, and they were real ugly Questions to ask before you go hunting How many eight points with a 15 inch spread that score is 125 have been killed this year What is the kill rate, ours was 11-0 It seems they lure you in with a 8 point 15 inch spread and then when you get there, they tell you it must score 125 Left on the stand all day 1 Saturday If you wanna go sightsee for 3 Days, Then almost demanded a tip Do your research before you embark

I have been on a lot of adventures like this that were first class ranches in Texas and this one goes at the top of my list. Mr. Will was very hospitable and made us feel right at home, the fishing was great we had a blast it is definitely a great place to go to make memories and relax. Looking forwards for a return trip first chance we get.
★☆☆☆☆I would not recommend this property to anyone. Our group of five hunted for four days and never saw a buck that met the owners 140 inch minimum. I shot a buck that would be legal everywhere else in Alabama or many other states for that matter and wound up paying a $1000 fine to the owner.

★★★★★The lodge, properties, and people at Piney Woods Hunting Preserve are Fabulous. There are big hardwood bottoms and plenty of green fields to hunt. You can diffidently tell Mr. Curtis has a passion for land management and hunting mature whitetail. I hunted early archery season and even though the weather was horrible I watched over 80 deer in a three day sit. The food was great and everyone there was friendly and accommodating. I will be booking another hunt here.
★★★★★Pineywoods in Troy Al is a fair chase open range trophy deer hunting preserve and a great place to bag a spring gobbler! It has a Beautiful lodge and great food served in a family atmosphere. The Curtis family who own the preserve are wonderful friendly people. I have hunted there several times. I have harvested one buck and several turkeys over the past few years!

★☆☆☆☆We hunted here 2 years in a row 1st time was just 3 of us with 4 other people in lodge, 2nd time 14+ with 2 guides placed in the same blinds over and over then told we could hunt a full day our last day only to find out another group was coming in then was rushed to get out. We asked to take a doe for the kids that we had and was met with an aggravated tone about taking a Doe. Over booked, over hunted, very few big bucks and lip about taking does.

★☆☆☆☆We hunted this place last year and had a decent trip but didn’t see any deer that qualified for their size rules so we decided to give it another try this year on a better week during the rut. This year the place was full with 14 hunters and we were rotated through The same unproductive stands over and over throughout our four-day trip seeing the same small deer. When we asked the guide in the mornings what the plan was for the day they told us they had no idea which let us to believe there was very little scouting or planning for our group. Day three with heavy rains expected we were put in open tree stands with no cover and when we called to be picked up they were unresponsive and we had to walk a mile and a half out on our own. They had us hunting out of on maintained box blinds and ripped and torn ground blinds that looked like they were 10 years old. Last year we had home cooked meals for lunch and dinner this year we got fast food Popeyes chicken sandwiches and order our pizza. Not the type of service you’d expect for $1800 per person. Do yourself a favor stay clear of this place
