Love Oak Ridge Outfitters! This is my second time here and this time, I took my cousin and her husband who came with me last time. She had never been to a hunt and wanted to see what it was about and this did not disappoint for sure. She got to see the beauty of the Sierra Nevada Foothills and the large tracts of land for the target animals to hide. She actually got to glass some deer and an impressive looking buck from afar. She saw what we had to do and saw the challenges and fun associated with hunting free range rams and animals. What was even more fun was we had to make a run as a ram was seen...We ran across a field after going from one end of the property to another. Then the run started and after see the ram, she saw me take shots at it, at 180 yrds out as it was running away. I dropped him on the second shot with shot between the shoulder and neck. The previous Silver Class Ram was a New Mexico Dahl. This time I came back to get an American Black Belly Ram which was also Silver Class, which is what her husband got last time. We are getting them both mounted so it is a cool memento for our family as a whole. She liked what we do out in the field. She liked that there was a fully functional bathroom and shower. She also liked the post hunt cleaning of the animal and cooking. It was fun. We also cooked some of the meat of the animal fresh. Had a blast as we celebrated her husband's birthday. The next day we got to target shoot and shoot at cans. It was fun and she did well. I enjoyed my second time here as Mike and his team of Justin and Garrett were welcoming, kind, knowledgeable and just good people. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a challenging hunt. Yeah, my shooting made it easy and we just got lucky with seeing a ram and it staying close enough (If you call 180 yrds close) to take a good shot. The rest was all me. Give Mike and Oak Ridge Outfitters a call...You will not regret it and will have a fabulous time. The smiles on those faces says it all!

What a wonderful gem of a place. Lodgings are nice and the service has been splendid! Tomorrow we hunt as we sighted in today and did some glassing. Review tomorrow... What a search!!! 3 hours of glassing, hiking, driving and searching thousands of acres of land! However in the end, we found the elusive New Mexico Dahl! Throughout, Mike showed exceptional guide prowess by showing us tracks, markings and possible areas for wild hog, coyote, fox and rams. He is truly know his craft as a guide and I walked away learning multiple tracking lessons. Eventually, Mike spotted my target ram as I spotted something else. This guy had a nice set of horns and was quite the looker. A well placed shot put him down for the count. Not at any time did I ever feel rushed or pushed to take the shot. In addition, Mike (and I) did our best to find a ram. This was not shooting fish out of a barrel and as can be seen a huge open area however Mike knows possible areas of travel and he hit when he found this guy. After pictures were taken and the ram respected and admired, Mike and Luke, his son, gutted him and loaded him up for our drive back miles and miles of land. Once at camp, Luke and Mike skinned and cleaned him and got the ram ready to go to the butcher and the skull and hide ready to go to my taxidermist. They did this quick while still engaging us which I appreciated greatly. Mike treated me like a friend visiting his property and not some stranger. This was so next level that I would most definitely come here again. He even went to town and got me cigarettes, Monster drinks, beer and more water after we asked how far town was...First class treatment is all we have received since we got here. My cousin and I are now getting ready for his hunt as I completed mine obviously. I will add to this review if I can...By the way it has been in the 90s the last two days and the AC in the cabin has been a good send!!! I would recommend Oakridge Outfitters to anyone looking for a nonsense hunt in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada! Such a gem of a place! I was lucky enough to stay on this property last weekend, and it's fantastic! I fell asleep to the sound of Great Horneds and Western Screech-Owls and woke each morning to Western Bluebirds, Oak Titmice, and several turkeys strutting right in front of the cabins! The cabins and bathroom buildings are just about done with the finishing touches, and I can tell that this is going to be a truly special place, not only for hunters, but for anybody interested in a secluded getaway. Mike couldn't be a better a host, and I hope to come back and get a pig someday.
