Well, where do I begin. The conversations started in late August about hunting. Everything was going as expected. Promises about finances were made and not kept. Cameron and I talked about the different Outfitters I have been to over the years with no results. I completely understand that these deer are free range and nothing is promised but that's not the issue. The problem is, Cam promised that if I paid the deposit of $1500 and I didnt harvest a deer, then he would hold the deposit for the following year and allow me to come back the following year for another opportunity. On the last night he came to the cabin and we were discussing where I was going to hunt the last morning, he asked me for the rest of the money, so I asked him about what he told me and he said he knew nothing about it and he said that's not the way it works. I understand that 99% of all outfitters are not going to do this but this is what he told me in September. This is why I chose this place over the others I had talked to. I could tell he didnt like what i said about the balance and I felt the same about what he just said, so yes, I was pissed off. I paid him the remaining balance, in cash and he left. I left and went to dinner and I called him and told him I was sorry for the way things happened but he was already upset from our previous conversation. I had mentioned to him a couple of nights before that I had passed on a buck on the 2nd morning because he told me the night of arrival that I had a target buck on the property that he was sending me to so I didn't harvest him because he wasn't my target. He apologized that night about saying i had a target buck and he said he misspoke. I could have had my hunt over with on the 2nd morning if i would have know but when someone tells you that you have a target buck, you think in most cases, thats the one you shoot on that farm and nothing else. Also, my fault as well for not asking more questions. I mentioned that to him as well on the phone and that's when he said that I was just angry and it would just be best if I left the property or he would have me removed. I was guessing by the police. I really don't know what else I can say. I was very polite to him and told him I didn't want to argue but he wasn't having it. I'm not telling anyone not to go there or to go there. All I'm saying is, I know what I was told. I would not just make this shit up. This is the ONLY reason i chose this place. It had nothing to do with the harvest. It had everything to do with honesty and integrity and i just knew after our conversation in September, that i finally found a place that really cares about its hunters. So in closing, just make sure when large amounts of money is involved, get everything in writing. Technically, he owes me money for not allowing my hunt to finish. Cam didnt want to listen to what I had to say. He just kept saying he deals with people like me all the time. He also stated that he was young and older men try to take advantage of him because of his age.I wish NorthFork outfitters the best of luck.
