Middle Fork Outfitters, now operated by Heart X Outfitters, is a premier wilderness outfitter in Idaho, offering fair chase hunts in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness and Salmon-Challis National Forest. With over two decades of experience, they provide guided hunts for elk, deer, bear, wolf, mountain lion, bighorn sheep, and mountain goat. Hunters can expect a true wilderness experience from wall tents or backcountry lodges, with well-trained horses and mules for access.
5 Hunt Packages
Bighorn Sheep & Mountain Goat Hunts
Bighorn Sheep and Mountain Goats are most sportsmen's dreams. We can make that dream come true. We offer ten day fully guided hunts with two guides per hunter. These hunts can be combined with elk, deer, or bear. The first step in these hunts is to draw the license. The deadline for the applications is April 30. We have a large number of mature rams in our area giving hunters a great opportunity to harvest a record book or near record book ram. On the average we only take one sheep hunter per year, giving our rams a chance to become trophy class.
Mountain Lion Hunts
For unsurpassed beauty and excitement join us for a winter mountain lion hunt. We have a large population of trophy lions and have had great success hunting them using our well-trained hounds. Most of the hunting is done on horseback. When the hounds cut a Mountain Lion track, we will be on foot listening to the cry of the hounds. With an added trophy fee there is also a great opportunity to harvest a Bobcat. IMPORTANT: Wolf is an added bonus to all of our hunts at no additional charge. So come join us for an eight day, fully guided trophy mountain lion hunt.
Pack In - Clients Cook
These are pack-in hunts for elk and trophy mule deer in the game-rich Middle Fork country, operating from September to November. Hunters will be packed into remote wilderness areas, with options for rifle hunting during the rut and late season. Our stock will get us into this remote country but most of the hunting will be done on foot. The hunts are based out of wilderness camps or the Simplot Ranch, which offers cabins and a cook shack.
Pack In - COMBO
These are pack-in hunts for elk and trophy mule deer in the game-rich Middle Fork country, operating from September to November. Hunters will be packed into remote wilderness areas, with options for rifle hunting during the rut and late season. Our stock will get us into this remote country but most of the hunting will be done on foot. The hunts are based out of wilderness camps or the Simplot Ranch, which offers cabins and a cook shack.
Spring & Fall Bear Hunts
Join us for a Rocky Mountain Bear hunt at our ranch on Silver Creek. Spring is a beautiful season in the Salmon River Mountains and bear hunting is at its best. We offer hunts over baits, spot and stalk hunting, and for the adventuresome, hound hunting. We have an abundance of bears and a large area to hunt them. We will be using pickups and horses to access our hunting country & returning to the B-C at night for hot meals, showers & comfortable beds.
