Never again. Booked a goose hunt a year in advance and got a phone call the night before about the duck hunt we were supposed to go on the next day. Ended up at a pit blind that had been absolutely pounded, with a spread that looked less than convincing. Killed a handful of birds for 5 hunters at $550 per gun.
Guides we hunted with were good, however organization of the hunt overall was pitiful and we got the short end of it. Meanwhile, the 13 year old in our group informed us Mr. Chad Belding of Banded was hunting with Merlo the same day knocking the piss out of the geese or at least that’s what their social media showed. Obvious our money meant nothing to these guys, go somewhere else. Oh, and Rocky should quit hitting his past clients up to donate to political campaigns, especially when they weren’t happy the first time they trusted him with their money.

Just did a two day hunt with Merlo last Monday and Tuesday, the goose hunt we did Monday will go down as the most amazing bird hunt I have ever been on in my life, absolutely incredible, we dropped 117 geese that morning, tornadoes of birds above us, jaw dropping experience. Rocque Merlo is the Godfather of waterfowl hunting in these parts and his chosen right hand man Ryley Haugh is a bad azz hunter and guide. Exceeded all expectations. My second day was a duck hunt with Zane despite very poor conditions we still shot a limit and 3 bonus geese. I feel blessed and very fortunate to have had the opportunity to hunt with these guys.

We dropped a big chunk of change to go on a guided hunt with these guys and the most action we had was when 3 ducks that flew by a few hundred yards away. It definitely seemed like the area we were taken too had been completely hunted out. I tried to reach out to see if they might be willing to work with us on going out again since it was such a bust and they made it clear they didn't care that we'd had a bad experience.
I honestly believe that the owner knew it was hunted out before we went and just didn't want to lose money by having us go another weekend.
In my opinion, the people running this company don't care about you or your hunt - they want your money and once they have that they don't care what happens. Our whole trip was organized by a 15 year old who wanted to get into hunting. The people running this place didn't care about that one bit.
Now that i've got my rant out of the way I WILL say our guide was great and definitely knew what he was talking about. Really just seemed like he got dropped into guiding a hunt that had no chance of success.
Don't throw your money away here!

This was my first time on a guided hunt and it was better than I could have imagined! They worked to fit me in on a booked schedule. Got my first greenhead and my limit, in fact all four of us got our limit! When I ran out of ammo Brian our guide lent me his gun to shoot for the remainder of the hunt. Brian also did a great job calling in the ducks!
Best hunt ever! Thank you to the Merlo group for a day I wont forget!
