★★★★★My family and I have been coming with Kyle & Jamil since before I could hold a gun. My first year I was 6 years old. I’m going to be 26 years old this year and the relationship and memories cultivated by Homra’s guide are a part of my soul. Kyle, Jamil, and their stellar guides have gone above and beyond, helping nurture as well as grow my love for the outdoors over the years. Outside of them being the best Duck Guide in the country, I even have fond memories from a couple fishing trips done with them. When you come hunt here you are coming for more than bagging some waterfowl or hooking fish, you are coming with people you could consider family. Outside of the amazing clean and comfortable lodging, I can ensure you that after almost 20 years there is nowhere else you would rather be than with Homra’s guide service on Reelfoot lake. Bring your kids, wives, girlfriends, friends, and you’ll find yourself coming back year after year. Thank you Homra’s guide service for being the highlight of myself and brothers life for decades now. And lastly of course you can’t forget the best blind food and little Debbie’s in the world, tip the cook!
★★☆☆☆We had bad luck and we don’t hold that against the guides. That’s how hunting goes. We get it. But 2 days and 7 hunters and zero shots fired. But to be fair, we weren’t willing to hunt all day to kill 3-4 ducks. No shots fired by 10AM? Well, we weren’t gonna stay a whole lot longer. But the kicker was the guide Jameel (sp?). He gave us a butt chewing like I haven’t had in 30 years - said we were laughing and joking and grab-assing too much (we have hunted together for years at other locations and no other guides have scolded us about talking/laughing in blind). And he wouldn’t let it rest! After a few minutes he’d lay back into us “I came here to hunt. I don’t know about ya’ll.” ….. a few moments later…..if y’all want to laugh and joke I’ll take yall back….and on and on. Finally I had to say “we got your point.” Mind you we are stone-cold sober because there is no alcohol in the blinds. So after a couple hours’ awkward silence, at noon we decided to call it. Not a shot fired. Hunting is not alllllll about killing. Anyone who has hunted for 15-20 years knows that. It’s also about re-connecting with old friends and taking a break from our very busy lives, and having fun. Jameel (sp?) ruined the vibe….like 15 minutes after legal shooting time. At 47 years old, I’m not used to getting scolded like that by a guide. And this is like my 7th paid hunt. I never talk to my kids ……much less an adult like that. We are not coming back.

★★★★★Stayed at the lodge and hunted with Horma’s on 05, 06, 07 December 2024. Lodge was clean, beds were soft, shower was hot. Amenities at lodge were plentiful. We saved money by bringing groceries to cook. Can’t do that in a hotel in town. Last lodge was central to all hunting locations. Hunting was top shelf. Blinds were spacious with warm sitting area and separate shooting platform. There was no shortage of ducks or shooting opportunities as we killed our limit each day we were there. The guides were hunters first but in a great mood to talk and joke with us. These men were also knowledgeable and eager to talk ducks, both hunting and ecologically as well as the history of the area. Last breakfast and lunch were provided and were outstanding. In short it would be very hard to beat this experience, due to the comfort of the stay, the quality of the hunt, and the outgoing nature of the guides.

★★★★☆Great guide service, the blinds are like mini hotels with breakfast and lunch served in them each hunt. While the blinds are nice I would prefer more primitive hunting in the woods or in the swamps and not in open water each time.

I’m in a wheelchair and the first time I went with the Homra’s (I’ve hunted 10 times with them now) I called to boom the hunt and told them about me being in a wheelchair and if I could hintwith them. They didn’t hesitate they just said sure come on! They will do anything they can to accommodate anybody! Food in the blind is first rate too! If you’re looking to hunt with some true blue good ole boys the. These are your guys! You won’t be disappointed!
