Doing a backcountry hunt in the Bob Marshall Wilderness was on my bucket list. The backcountry is a special place. I hunt every year in Montana so I knew what to expect as far as sucess rates. The camp was as suspected, not a first class lodge but a hardcore wilderness camp. The horseback ride in and out was a little tough but worth it for a 65 year old, but it sure beats hiking. I would recommend High Rock outfitters if you are looking for a remote wilderness hunt. Not a lot of game but we did manage to notch my tag on a young bull, no trophy but real great eating. Another bonus is being able to rifle hunt during the rut. It was sure nice not to have to pack out an elk from the backcountry over a pass. Our hunt was the first week of October and the weather was about as good as it gets for hunting. The Anderson family are great people and forth generation locals with a personal connection to this country.
