★★★★★I hunted with HMH in Nov. 2025. I had an elk and deer tag and was able to fill them both. I filled the deer tag the first day and the elk on the last, the outfitter and guide worked very hard to help me find the elk. Food and lodging was great, will definitely hunt with them again. Nick the owner runs a great outfit and is extremely knowledgeable about precision rifle shooting. Mano was my guide and again worked very hard to make sure i had the opportunity to fill both tags.
★★★★★I can’t recommend HMH enough! From my first interaction with the owner Nick to the time in the field with guide Darrin this was a top notch organization. The group of guides in camp, the accommodations in the lodge, the help from Alecia with pre trip planning and the effort that each member of the organization put into this hunt was evident throughout the hunt and contributed greatly to a successful hunt. I hope to have the opportunity to draw a tag and get back in the field with this group again very soon!

HMH was first rate from lodging and meals to the the owner, Nick, and his team of guides. My guide was Mono, and I couldn't have asked for a better guide. My buddy and me took our wife’s from Indiana, and set us all four up in the main lodge, even a day early. The girls loved it. Loved the guides and crew, it was like we had met a new family in Colorado! This guy builds his own guns, we bought ours clear out there, Nick the owner let us borrow his guns with a complete set up. I hit a nice one and lost it in the hills…. My buddy killed and nice 5x5 the next day. The boys packed everything out, and Nick the owner and Ricky another guide looked for mine for two days. The whole thing was a wonderful experience! Another adventure in the books, looking to go back soon. P. S. Ask for Dallas he sold us the hunt, Ricky, and Mono are excellent guides!

★★★★★I can't say enough about HMH. I've done numerous guided hunts in the West and Midwest, but my hunt with HMH as my outfitter far exceeded past experiences and expectations. Prior to, during, and after the hunt, Nick, his support staff and guides were top notch, as was the food and lodging. I filled my elk tag with a legal bull(I wasnt being picky this hunt)and had many opportunities for decent mule deer bucks which I ultimately elected to pass on. I feel like I've found the team to stick with for my yearly western hunts. I can confidently recommend HMH for a quality, enjoyable hunt. Update: I hunted again in '24 with HMH. I stand behind my previous 5 🌟 review. Top notch outfitter. Can't say enough about the lodge, food, and the support staff. The guides are amazing. Carlos, my guide for this trip, was incredible! Fun, punctual, super hard working and geez did he know the area, the animals and how to hunt them! He put me on a nice bull for the freezer and a great muley (my 1st) for the wall. Like I said in my first review, I've found my go-to outfitter for Colorado. I trust Nick and HMH to provide excellent lodging/food, amazing guides and a great opportunity for deer/elk on fair chase, mountain hunts in a game rich unit of CO. Fitness, shooting ability and positive attitude is up to the hunter! Already planning on HMH in '25!

He was exceptional in knowing the area, spotting animals and adding Ty along with him just made it even better. I saw more deer and elk than all my other hunts put together (15). I had both a deer and elk tag. I did get a deer but eht elk were either too far or no legal bull. What was impressive on the last day Brad teemed up with us. Something he did not have to do since his clients got their elk. That is saying something for your guides. I hope to be able to return in a couple of years once I draw tags again. Thanks again.
★★★★★Awesome Outfitter and great experience! We had this hunt planned for almost 2 years and they really delivered when it finally came. The lodge you stay in is really nice, had great food to eat every night and a lot of story telling from the day’s hunt from all the other hunters and guides around the dinner table. The Outfitter, Nick really did a good job pairing up clients with guides based on the kind of experience each hunter wants. Some of the guys wanted a more laid back hunt, my hunting partner and I said we just want to get our first elk and were willing to hunt hard to get one. We were paired with Cassidy who wanted to get us on some elk just as bad as we did and he didn’t disappoint! We saw tons of elk, deer & a few bears every spot we went to. Cassidy is one of the best spotters out there, can find game at long distances right away. Nick assigned an extra guide to us on the third day of the hunt to help increase our chances of success. He also had guides that were out looking for elk for us in other spots when they weren’t with other clients. Really multiplied our chances of success. Carlos, who had just finished up with another client went out with us on the 3rd day and we ended up doubling up elk that day! I shot a 300” bull in the morning and my hunting partner shot a nice one that afternoon. All the guides are just good dudes and fun to hunt with. I’m planning to do another hunt with HMH in a couple years when I can draw a mule deer tag there. Definitely recommend these guys!

★☆☆☆☆Bad experience, out of four hunters, we never saw or had opportunity to shoot an Elk. We were promised we would hunt on private land but that was not the case, we were on public land with all the other hunters. I had promised my son a hunt for ten years and it wasn’t a rewarding experience for anyone in our group.
★★★★★Where do I start? First, I highly recommend this outfitter. I met Nick at a Deer and Turkey show, was impressed by his energy and honesty; basically didn’t blow smoke but offered facts and statistics about his outfit (which turned out to be spot-on). I ended up taking a trip with HMH in September of 2022, elk with a muzzleloader. I showed up at the lodge, which was really incredible; every little detail was covered. Rooms were great, food was amazing, etc. They took me out scouting for elk the day before the season, and we immediately started seeing animals. I hunted for the next 6 days, probably saw around a dozen different bulls. Had two legitimate opportunities at bulls (5x5 and a 6x6) within muzzleloader range, but I screwed up both times. No excuses; my guide Cody made it happen but I didn’t. Still haunts me to this day 😊. Overall I was really impressed with the terrain (San Juan mountains), the knowledge of my guide and outfitter, their dedication to getting me an opportunity, the lodge, food, transportation, everything. I would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks Nick and Cody, for the hunt of a lifetime.

★★★★★My experience with High Mountain Hunts was nothing short of amazing! I was a first time hunter, but I have been shooting rifles for a long time. This year I made the leap and finally did my first hunt. I spent a lot of time finding the right outfit that fit my needs, and HMH couldn’t have been a better fit. The owner and operator of the outfit, Nick, was extremely patient with me while explaining how the process works, in addition to the helpful info found on their website. He really took the time to get to know me, and match me up with the perfect guide for my hunts. I was lucky enough to have been matched up with Cody Kimsey as my guide, and I couldn’t have asked for a better all around match. Cody took the time to ask if I had any physical limitations and what my comfort level was for the hunt. Additionally, I purchased an Elk, Deer, and Bear tag for second rifle season, so he made a point of understanding my priorities for the hunt. Each day Kimsey had an amazing plan for remote hunting locations, and we had an overall amazing success rate. His eagle eye and passion for hunting were extremely obvious front the moment I met him. He had spent the past couple of months traversing the steep Colorado land, helping to understand where the animals had been migrating. On top of his incredible ability to spot animals, we had a great time just getting to know each other. The day prior to the season opening all of the hunters were allowed to confirm the zero of our rifles. This turned out to be incredibly valuable, because myself and several other hunters hadn’t been able to adjust our zero for the change in altitude and barometric pressure. I really loved the lodge setup, as it naturally encouraged getting to know the other hunters and guides. Nick and Terra were also amazing at making sure everyone felt comfortable and was having a good time. The food at the lodge was much better than all of the restaurants I ate in Pagosa Springs, and I really enjoyed eating out in the town if that says anything about the quality of the food at the lodge. In the end, I was able to get a beautiful bull and buck. I will absolutely be back again next year, and will likely have a friend or two join me. We worked hard for four days straight and finally located a legal bull that we could put a stalk on. The entire team at HMH is full of great men and women and they never stop working hard for their clients. I will definitely be back to hunt with them again!

★☆☆☆☆Not the best place to run a business, they clean kills in the driveway, in a neighborhood which seems like a great way to attract bear and mountain lion. Trailers and trucks parking in the road blocking traffic, broken bottles left in the road. People who live in the neighborhood ride bicycles, walk, and walk there dogs up and down this street not to mention kids going to school.

I was fortunate enough to hunt with several guides throughout the week (hunted 9 days) and all were fantastic. The knowledge the guides have is incredible and they are more than happy to share it to make you a better hunter. The Lodge accommodations and location are great being right off the main street in Pagosa. There are plenty of entertainment and dining options available, but the food was so good at the lodge I saw no reason to go elsewhere! I will definitely be back to hunt with HMH in the future. Every part of my hunt was fantastic from the second I got there. My guide was great, he explained everything to me that we would be doing for the week on the scouting day, he showed me the lay out of the land.
