We loved this place! It was a beautiful drive up a windy dirt mountain road to an amazing ranch. The guides were great at making me feel at ease immediately. The horse I was paired with (Tabletalk) was very gentle and sweet, and the scenery was incredible. We did the Saddle and Paddle combo with Wild West Rafting and had an amazing day!

We had an awesome experience today on our 1 hour ride. Our guides were awesome and so were our horses. The mountain views were incredible. I definitely recommend this if you are vacationing in the Yellowstone area.

A fun float down the river.

Awesome place, killer views and wonderful people

We booked last minute onto a 1hr horse ride and have to say it was absolutely incredible. The ranch is beautiful and the horses looked very well cared for. While it is in a secluded location, this meant stunning scenery and tranquil experience. The ride was hosted by the lovely family (Peter was our guide) who made us feel at home. We were lucky to be the only ones on the ride and got lots of interesting stories and facts about the area. The view from horseback looking over the start of Yellowstone park and the mountains in the background was unbelievable. If you're in Gardiner and want to explore the beautiful scenery on horseback, this is the perfect place to go to. Thanks so much for a great experience!

Wonderful!! Very experienced and patient with beginners and senior riders! Peter was our guide and he made it a fun experience, sharing his stories and interacting with everyone. Great time!

My wife and I rode today with Daniel. Anchor and Patricia were our horses and they were wonderful and we felt very comfortable riding them. Hell’s A-Roarin Outfitters is a first class operation and we recommend them to anyone looking for a great outfitter!

My girlfriend and I came to visiting the area. We decided to do a trip into Yellowstone. Peter was an amazing guide. Personable and easy to talk to, it was just the 3 of us. Cody and Anchor were great horses. Fun and responsive to commands. Def will come again or we may just move into the area as it’s soooo beautiful!

Went up there with a group from Georgia. After day-one, I requested a different horse and a better saddle. That request was ignored. On day-two, my horse (Woodrow) lost his footing, did a flip and landed on top of me. I left that day and never went back. Can't recommend them to you either.

Update, 12 NOV 2025 - Still singing the praises of this legit, authentic, multi-generational Outfitting operation... it doesn't get any better... highly recommended to military veterans!!!

What a memorable experience! We did the horseback ride and cowboy cookout. Gorgeous country and amazing steak dinner. We also loved the campfire songs too. Only thing I would caution is be careful driving up that road. We did it in an RV and woul never do that again. ;)

Awesome scenery and great people to be around. The Rodeo was really good. Thanks to Warren for everyone involved. We hope to visit again in the near future.

Great guides! Amazing views, and ride. For the experienced and non experienced. Highly recommended
★★★★★
Pretty rough road to get up there, but an amazing experience overall! Saw lots of wildlife from the trail as well!

Prachtige omgeving, lieve hondjes en goedverzorgde paarden. Rit was een beetje langzaam. Maar wel heel mooi

Had a fabulous time. The owners and staff are awesome. The horse ride was a nice hour ride with beautiful views and the meal at the end was soo good!! After we ate we were told about the history of the property, singing, and roasted marshmallows. Loved it!!
★★★★★
All the horses were friendly and so were all their half dozen or so dogs, so I take that as a good sign that they're well treated. Our ride was in a spectacular location.
★★★★★
We had a wonderful 1-hour ride with a cowboy cookout! The place is "out there" (far), BUT the vistas of Yellowstone during the ride are phenomenal! The guides were very helpful and patient, and the story-teller during the campfire was the cherry on top!
★★★★★
Very good me and my horse bonded on a spiritual level and the views were jaw dropping

They really need to have their own shuttle to take guests up to the ranch. The last quarter mile up to the ranch is not something a customer should have to put their vehicle through(especially considering most people have a rental or are road tripping hundreds of miles). Thankfully, we didn't have our mini van, or we probably would have turned around. Our friends with trucks were not even fans of having to put that wear on their trucks. Probably should go out in smaller groups (think there were a total of 23-25 with three guides, a couple years ago we did a mule rid in grand canyon and our group was 10-12 with two guides). It took 15-20 min to get everyone on horses, so your weren't really riding for a full hour. Guides were nice, but we're somewhat limited in how they could interact because the group was so big and they had to help catch a horse up that was slow, or get a horse moving that wanted to keep snacking. Definitely some good views and saw a deer on the ride.

We did the hour long horseback ride and everything was incredible! Super friendly guides and staff, very clean bathrooms, and the best welcoming committee of dogs!!! While the slowest of the group, my horse Hobo was a perfect fit. Would absolutely recommend!

Great ride, can’t beat these views!

We had an incredible horseback ride with stunning scenery all around. The trail was beautiful and peaceful.

We had a wonderful 1-hour ride in the mountains with this outfit! The guides were very kind and helpful. They put my 81-year-old stepmom on a gentle giant, and I had a sweet horse as well. It’s over 5 miles up a gravel road to get there, so be aware of that, but we had no problems in our Ford Escape and there were other people there in Honda Civics and smaller sedans. This was a bucket list experience for us and I’m so glad we chose Hell’s a Roarin’ to help make our dreams a reality. 5 stars all the way.

I recently did a tour with this company and the views were absolutely amazing. However it took about an hour to get everyone on their horses. There were 38 people in our group with 4 guides but one guide had to stay with a special needs customer, in which I do not think the parents disclosed. He was very scared and the parents did not stay with him. Once on the trails families were separated and I know some were not very happy. While the scenery was beautiful and I am an experienced riding there was not any kind of explanation or safety talk for those inexperienced. I feel the guides did the best they could do. I feel this falls on the owners. Tours should be capped not only for the experience but for safety. One last thing the drive is about 7 miles long on a dirt, rock and graded road. Be prepared. You will need shocks after.

We did the horseback ride with dinner and overnight stay. Great experience and we'll be back!

They are located at 8500 ft. Elevation and the views are awesome. The staff is very knowledgeable about the family history and shared stories about their past. They are very good matching you up with the right horses. We took the 1 hour trial ride and really enjoyed it. The property is well taken care of and the horses as well.

Our experience appears to be out of the norm, but I think it's important to share. We arrived for a 2 hour ride this past week. There were 25 people in our group, mostly inexperienced/new riders. There were only 4 guides total to supervise this huge group. Unfortunately, on our ride, due to the size of the group and varying speeds of the horses, as well as of an inappropriate number of guides, a horse ran away with his rider. She was a girl of about 15 and she fell from her horse at a full gallop. (Helmets were offered, but they were not encouraged. Our whole family (7) were the only ones that chose to wear them). Obviously, horseback riding carries risk. I am an experienced rider. Injuries happen. My complaint is not that a girl fell. My complaint is that there was zero preparation for this event. Her collarbone appeared fractured. The guides had NO idea what to do. There was no first aid kit, no way to offer her shade, none of the guides even offered her water. I got down to help her, check her over, and gave her my water bottle. We were at least 3 miles from the barn at that point. I was told by someone working there that they were short of guides that day. If that was true, it was negligent to send out a ride of that size. It was negligent regardless. The guides were not very involved or particularly friendly. They did not make any effort to match people with a horse of the right temperament. They didn't care if you stayed together with your party, and part of the experience for us was riding with our children. They seemed apathetic and disinterested when the girl fell. I was more concerned than they were about it. I was told it was nose-to-tail, but ultimately, as someone who's ridden for 40 years, I ended up riding alongside the group so that I could monitor the 3 inexperienced kids under my care. The good: The horses were well taken care of, and the location is utterly stunning. The bad: there was no preparation or training for an emergency, the group was huge and didn't have proper monitoring by guides, you couldn't ride with your friends/family, and someone was seriously injured due to bad planning/negligence. Other things that were frustrating (but not unsafe) - they did not allow any stops for pictures, to drink water, or for small kids to use the bathroom if needed. It really felt like were churning us through the ride as fast as possible. I wouldn't recommend riding with them. It was unsafe, and it was very impersonal. If you do choose them, WEAR A HELMET. They have them up by the office. The ground is extremely rocky in that area, and if the girl had hit her head rather than her shoulder, the outcome may have been life-ending.
