I shot sporting clays at Feathered Elk Ranch for the first time this past week and my experience was top notch. I shoot a lot of sporting clays all over the country and this place is in the top 5 easily, if not number one. FER has some of the best and most varied targets I have ever seen. They use the terrain especially well in this regard. The course has targets for every shooting level in my opinion. I spoke with the owners at length-super people. I will definitely visit them again and try their 5-stand next time. Great place and great people.

I've been out to Feathered Elk Ranch twice, and both times the experience went well beyond what I expected. On my most recent visit, our group of four ranged from complete beginners to intermediate shooters, and Robert, the owner, took real time with us to make sure every one of us understood the fundamentals and walked away better than we started. His instruction was clear, patient, and easy to put into practice no matter your skill level. The ranch itself is beautiful, and the surroundings make the whole day feel like a getaway. It's a bit of a drive to get out there, but it is well worth it. After our time on the clays, Robert and his family welcomed us into their lodge for a cold drink and good conversation. Getting to spend time with Maureen and their son Thomas made the visit feel less like a business and more like being a guest of people who genuinely enjoy what they do. If you're looking to get into sporting clays, or any of the other hunting and shooting options they offer, this is the place. I'll be back.

The sporting clay course is well laid out, 5-stand was a blast, and the handgun range felt safe and well run. My family was visiting steamboat for a ski vacation, but unfortunately I was injured prior to this trip and couldn’t ski. I wanted to do something together with the whole family that I could participate in when I came across a suggestion for activities to do while in steamboat in Trip Advisor. I was referred to Feathered Elk Ranch who were very flexible and accommodating for our needs. They drove us to and from their ranch and customized package for us to learn clay pigeon shooting which none of my family had ever done. It was great experience in a beautiful setting. Both Thomas and Robert were very attentive and great instructors. My whole family of 5 were able to hit many of the clay pigeons which was a lot of fun. I would totally recommend Feathered Elk Ranch to anyone interested in this sport. They offer a lot of different activities in a beautiful setting.

Feathered Elk Ranch is everything a wingshooter could hope for and more. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like family. The staff’s hospitality and attention to detail made the entire trip seamless, from warm coffee in the morning to a some nice whiskies waiting for us after the hunt. The bird hunting was absolutely phenomenal. My Griff loves working in those fields. There are plenty of birds, beautiful scenery, and just the right mix of challenge and fun to keep every hunt exciting. We stayed overnight and hunted here with my wife and daughter. This place is phenomenal and we really enjoyed our stay. The lodge is cosy and tastefully decorated and guest rooms are very comfortable. The hosts are awesome people and truly create a feel-at-home atmosphere for their guests. We had a morning upland hunt afterwards which took place in a beautiful field with great cover and was a lot of fun.
