My wife Diane & I recently visited Cody, Wyoming because I wanted to show her what it was like to be in the mountains of Wyoming; which is generally where I’ve been hunting every fall season for the last 15-years. Prior to the trip, I contacted Seth & Alden from Elk Fork Outfitters. I chose the approximate 5-6 hour trip, which included lunch cooked over a campfire along a shady stream. Well, let me tell you something, whenever someone asks my wife whether she enjoyed the trip her response is “Yes” - followed by her stating that her FAVORITE day was riding horseback into the mountains!!! Seth & Alden were awesome! I asked if I could ride a mule & they accommodated me with a terrific one named Blossom. I wanted to try riding a mule because many hunters use them in the fall because they’re sure-footed. Of course, my wife made fun of me after I told her what I requested until we arrived to meet Seth & Alden and she saw that my mule was larger than her horse! Lol Anyway, it was a fun fun day that was followed up by a trip to the Cody Rodeo - and after riding all day both my wife and I had an absolute respect for all of the riders! As someone who can easily decipher between “touristy” type things out west (especially after all these years), I am highly recommending Elk Fork Outfitters for a real authentic experience that will always pop as a GREAT memory 😊 PS - Alden, if you ever read this I want you to know that Diane bought the marinade you used on the chicken and it’s delicious! Four lifelong friends and I spent 5 days with Seth and his crew in the back country and I would prefer that this review be 10 stars and not only 5! Having horses myself, I was curious to see how Seth managed and cared for his livestock. I was immediately impressed at his attention to the details that matter - which was also indicative of how the camp ended up being managed. All was well organized, well executed and without mishap or issue. The food was incredible and the daily excursions and campfire lounging were soul nourishing. Being in God's country where we could watch a meteor shower, ride reliable mounts over beautiful country and through river crossings, gave us the chance to unplug from the hectic world and recharge thoroughly. Everything exceeded expectations—the expansive scenery of the Elk Fork (near the eastern edge of Yellowstone National Park), the fishing, the horses & mules, the meals, and most of all, Seth & Alden. They made us feel welcome and safe while also giving us the freedom to fish and explore the wilderness. Their knowledge of the land, wildlife, and history made the whole experience better. The mules and horses were extremely well cared for and perfectly matched to each rider. The campsite was perfect—peaceful, scenic, immaculately clean and comfortable. We all thought it was the best nights of sleep any of us had in a long time. The meals were hearty and delicious, which was especially impressive given how remote we were. Dinners always included an appetizer and dessert. What really stood out, though, was the atmosphere Seth & Alden created. They struck the perfect balance of professionalism, warmth, attentiveness, and adventure. It felt like we were riding with friends. This was one of those rare experiences that leaves you both refreshed and inspired. If you’re considering a back-country pack trip (including great fishing), don’t hesitate—this is the adventure of a lifetime. Highly recommended! We already have another trip booked with Seth & Alden.

Just returned from a five wilderness fly fishing trip with Elk Fork Outfitters and cannot recommend them highly enough. Seth, Alden, and their wrangler Aubyn were top notch, wonderful people and, most importantly for me, were patient and happy to help novice riders enjoy time on the mules and horses. The camp is in a secluded valley off of the Elk Fork drainage between Cody, Wyoming and Yellowstone Park. Pictures don't come close to describing the astounding scenery of Double Mountain, Wapiti Ridge and other landmarks. The food was abundant and excellent. How does Alden do that so many miles from civilization? The peace of mind from no cell service is hard to describe. Each day, Seth and Aubyn would lead five of us on horseback to different areas along the Elk Fork river and catch plenty of fish. The lunches contained so much food they were hard to finish. We would return to a remarkably picturesque camp, enjoy dinner and a camp fire. Then a desert would appear that shouldn't be possible in the mountains. Most of all, the people that run the operation and care for their guests make it hard to not have a life-changing experience in such a relatively short time. Go on this trip.

I had the pleasure of taking a two hour horseback ride with Alden today. She was so gracious and kind and extremely professional. She took me to her favorite trail, which was absolutely beautiful. We rode above a green valley with a gorgeous silver blue river flowing thru it. Mountains all around with such interesting geological formations in the foreground. I haven’t been on a horse in twenty years so this ride was special to me. Alden made it so. And if the ride wasn’t enough, she also made chocolate chip cookies for our snack! My Husband and I booked a 1/2 day trail ride with Alden, she was Amazing!! We rode thru the Shoshone Mountains, the views were breathtaking to say the least. We crossed creeks, rode in valleys, the horses were great, I rode a beautiful horse named Marvin and my Husband got to ride a sweet mule named Clarence. Alden had packed us a snack of homemade cookies, water and a apple. We stopped along a creek to take a break and take in more scenery. If your visiting Cody or are blessed enough to live here, you need to book this ride. Very reasonably priced too.
