My buddy I attended one of their pheasant shoots and had a blast! Really nice folks. The bunk house was simple but comfortable. Great southern comfort food. The shoot was well organized and lots of fun. Can’t wait until fall to do it again!

Had a great tower shoot. It’s well done. Proper spacing, plenty of birds, relaxed. Pete and Carolyn are great hosts. The bunk houses are surprisingly nice and accommodating. The food is absolutely fantastic. I would recommend the pheasant hunt for beginners and experienced hunters.

We went hunting here mid January 2026. We had a great time we got to meet people from all over the united states. Pete and the guides seem to be great people. We had some really good hunts . The lady that did the cooking was amazing! Every meal was delicious. I got lucky and was able to take a buck and Pete and the guides did a great job of taking care of it for me. I hope to go back sometime.

Waste of money, time and energy. Hunted five times in three days and didn't see any deer at all.

This is the second time my husband Bob and I hunted in Alabama with Deep South Hunting. We had an amazing time. Pete and the guides, Hunter and Rodney, are very knowledgeable and accommodating. They all were great and we had lots of fun with them too! The meals that Sandra prepared were delicious. Did not go away hungry that's for sure! We would recommend Pete and his Awesome Crew for Whitetail Deer hunting! See you guys next year!

My husband and I had a great time at Deep South Hunting Camps in Alabama! Pete and the guides are super down-to-earth, great people who make the hunting really enjoyable. The cook prepared us some phenomenal home-cooked meals. My husband killed a great buck within the first hour of hunting the first evening! Although I didn’t bring a buck home, that’s okay! The deer were not moving the best, but that’s just part of hunting and the weather we had while we were there. We hope to go back soon!!

Was excited for a hunt down south. So disappointed. Was not informed our place we would be staying was used by everyone as a gathering place. 6 people 2 bedrooms which was fine but rest of place including the one bathroom was shared by guides owners and all 6 of us. Also cook used. Living area also used by whole group including 6 people in other 3 bedroom 2 bath private cabin. Paid exact same price!! Advertised wifi. Was none. Now for the hunt not once did we hunt for hogs. Never even mentioned. Once there was told no does on green fields and that is where we were seated. Also no feeders for the deer. 12 people and not one deer. Two could have shot but the promise if big bucks made them wait. And never seen big bucks so very disappointed. If you plan on going ask questions first. Best part was Sandra the cook. Great southern cooking. Breakfast was just store bought stuff. Then at 11 come in for lunch. Which was breakfast but have been out since 5 am. Only good thing was the night meal. Thanks to Sandra

Pete and my guide Rodney did a great job helping my son get his first buck and making memories that will last a lifetime! We will definitely be back, thanks yall!
★★★★★
A good place to hunt. It is a little tough hunting because of pine trees. Crew does ever thing and are we'll trained hunter themselves. Food was top grade and a very good atmosphere. A well put together place.

I had a great time hunting with Pete. We didn't see that many deer because it was so darn hot. 85 degrees in February isn't ideal for dear movement. Our guide Jeremy tried his best to put us on deer but just didn't happen for some of us. Personally I had a great time even though I didn't connect. The food was great! We came in round 11,had brunch and talked about the morning hunt. Then we went back out till dark. Came back to camp where Pete had made some good food for supper. I would definitely go back there again. I met a lot of nice people while I was there.

I hunted with Deep South Hunting Camps January 27-30, 2025. I hunted at the Alabama location. From my initial contact with Pete Hans to discuss a possible hunt, to my departure from the camp, I found the operation to be very reputable. The owner, Pete Hans, was always forthright and honest with me. Pete was always very prompt in responding to my phone calls, and text messages. The hunting area encompasses 5000 acres of land. The hunt is a semi-guided operation with guides taking hunters to and from stands. All transportation was done in a timely manner. Hunting was done on food plots and woodland areas. Elevated shooting houses, ground blinds/houses and ladder stands were utilized. Pete and his guides worked hard to place hunter in productive areas in accordance with wind direction. Three tracking dogs were available, if needed. Lodging included housing at the main campsite and a rental house approximately 14 miles away. Snacks and coffee were provided for early morning; a hardy brunch for mid-day meal and a delicious supper each night. A skinning area with a walk-in cooler was available for hunter use. All hunters at the camp were very cordial. Some of the hunters were first-timers and several had hunted with Pete before (some several times). The hunt included an evening hunt, two full-day hunts and a morning hunt. Alabama offers a 3-day non-resident license at a fair price and can be purchased on-line. In my opinion, Deep South Hunting Camps is a no-frills operation that offers all the essentials needed for a fun and successful hunt. I would recommend them and will consider them for future deer hunts.

Overall great hunting trip! Pete and Jonathan went above and beyond to ensure our family had a great hunting experience. Both my son and daughter were able to kill their first deer.

Deep South is a quality group to work with. The owner Pete and his guides are so nice and go out of their way to make the trip a great experience. I want to give praise to our guide, Jonathan. He is experienced and puts us in the best spots to be successful. Thank you guys for making our trip a great experience. Oh and I killed my first buck this year thanks to them. A huge 6 point. Thank you guys.

I recently had a highly disappointing experience with Deep South Hunting, and I feel compelled to share the details for the benefit of Ohers considering their service. After arriving, I asked Pete how frequently they see hogs, and he informed me that they hadn't seen any in years. It’s unclear why they continue to advertise hog hunting if they no longer have any on their property. The meals were another letdown. On the first night, we were served Chili and boiled dogs with no side dishes. The next morning, breakfast consisted of eggs, bacon, and biscuits. For dinner we had fried chicken, rice, and sausage and brownies. On the last morning, there was no breakfast. The final night’s dinner consisted of cheeseburgers, but without any toppings, lettuce, or sides. When I asked Pete why we didn’t get a dessert as mentioned on the website, he informed me that desserts were only offered on a limited basis. At no point did our meals resemble the descriptions or photos found on their website. The hunting vehicles were in poor condition, with excessive shaking that made me question whether my rifle was still properly sighted in. They were also extremely dirty, covered in a mix of blood and dirt. On the night before our hunt, Pete called to suggest we reschedule due to weather concerns. However, we were unable to change our plans, so we decided to proceed. He reassured us that we would have great food and a fun time. Pete also mentioned that the cabin was winterized, and though the property was too wet to access, there was an alternative area for us to hunt and stay. However, after our first hunt, I noticed that the ground was dry, and I questioned Pete about why we weren’t hunting the actual property. His response was that he wanted to give us the best chance to be successful, though it didn’t seem to justify the situation. We were limited to four hunting stands, none of which were on the advertised 7,000 acres. A visit to the actual camp revealed that it was not winterized as Pete had claimed, and there were what we believe to be other hunters present. It became clear that we had been placed on subpar land with minimal deer activity. The only deer I personally saw were on neighboring properties as I drove around. In all my years of guided hunting, this was by far the worst experience I’ve encountered. Pete offered to have us return next year at a significantly reduced rate, but after reading other reviews mentioning similar issues—including Pete’s failure to return calls—we decided it was best to cut our losses. The photos of previously killed deer that Pete showed us appeared to be from another state entirely, and I noticed that his current camp lacked the "Deep South Hunting" sign that was visible in the photos. I strongly recommend avoiding this outfitter. What was promised on the website and in conversations with Pete did not match the reality of the experience. If you value your time, money, and hunting experience, look elsewhere.

Arrived to property to hunt. No one was there when we arrived so we were not sure if we were in the correct place. Call and spoke with someone there. They stated two guides were on the way they was putting corn out in the feeders. We were told we had to purchase a license to hunt over corn. No problem, we got the license. While we were hunting we checked the deer feeders. We did not find any corn on the ground nor the feeders. The rules for killing does would change. They are misleading. The rule was only kill does in certain areas. We were not allowed to shoot any does in green fields. That should be stated in the rules. Especially when no one out of 12 hunters sees a buck. All the spots they put us on were green fields. We had plenty of mature does on those fields. Not a good experience at all. I have done multiple hunts like this and this was by far the worst experience ever. We asked if they had any pictures of the deer in the past week. There answer was the app was down. No problem you can still get the picture from the website. Then we weee told they did not know the password. Go online and select change password. Change the password and it done. You would be able to show the hunters that payed a good bit of money the deer in the property. The excuse they had was the weather. I have killed most of the deer I have shot in the same weather we had. Not an excuse. I would not recommend this place. Put that money towards somewhere else. Not a good place to hunt.

Can’t say enough good things about Pete and the guys at Deep South Hunting Camps. My guide Ron put me on the perfect stand for the weather conditions and the deer I killed read the script. The food and accommodations are great, but most importantly I left with the biggest deer of my life to date! 128” 10 point with a lot of character.

This was my first time hunting with this outfitter . My son Kyle and I felt at home from the moment we stepped on site. Pete made sure that we were well taken care of. From the accommodations to the meals, everything was more than I expected. Kyle is 9 and harvested his first buck on our trip. The interaction with everyone was fantastic. I will definitely be hunting here again ! This experience gave us the memories of a lifetime! Thank you Pete .

I took a chance on a new outfitter on Facebook and was very impressed. Deep South with Pete provided a super deer hunt in Millry Ala. After only a couple hours it felt like being with old friends. The food and accommodations were great. I plan on going back numerous times. It helped that I shot my largest deer to date but it would have a great time regardless. Saw multiple deer every sit. Great time.
