We stayed in an RV spot . Full hookups were great . Easy hookup. Camp is spacious with plenty of communal space to share your fish-tales! Staff is super helpful and very welcoming. Fishing is great right now. They offer a shuttle service for the anglers which is super convenient and well priced . Everyone we spoke with loved the cabins .

Cottonwood Camp was a great place to stay for our weekend trip to the Big Horn. The location is great being close to 3 Mile FAS while also a short car ride to the dam or Bighorn FAS. We stayed in one of the Duplex rooms. The room was clean, kitchen fully stocked and the patio was fantastic to dry our gear. The shop and staff was friendly and knowledgeable of current fishing conditions. The ability to set up a shuttle there was also nice. Overall it was a great stay.

Our group has stayed here for over 30 years. The camp has been neglected for the past couple of years. Showers and hot water are terrible, the kitchen floor is torn up and there is an overall sense of disrepair. Cottonwood has never been luxurious, but after fishing all day you expect a hot shower, plumbing that works and a clean house. We stayed at the “Condo”.

A group of 6 anglers including myself stayed at the brown palace for 3 nights starting 4/16. This place was perfect for all of us and had a full kitchen setup that made it easy to prepare meals after a long day of fishing. We also rented one drift boat for 2 days with cottonwood and the communication and service was amazing. I highly recommend setting up a trip with these guys and can't wait to come back.

This was the 6th year of me staying at this property, due to the proximity to the lake and the Bighorn river that make it very convenient. This campground was purchased by a larger company called Jet Hospitality a few years back, and has been in a state of decline ever since. They are only open from 730a-1030a, so when you arrive in the afternoon and have any issues or need to purchase ice or anything else, no one is around and they don't answer the phone number on their website. I've always stayed in the 30A water/electric RV spots. A common problem that guests have in these spots is that because there's a shared electric and water source for every other 30A RV spot, standard length cords won't reach the pedestal. You need an extension cord. Nowhere do they give you any warning about this. These electric pedestals are mounted to wooden posts that have rotted and are falling over. One pedestal has been laying on the ground all summer. The bath house and bathroom facilities are pretty run down. When I visited recently on a fishing trip, I arrived to dirty toilets, sinks, floors, and showers. Spider webs in the bathroom stalls. My wife said the women's side of the bath house was the worst she'd ever seen it. When I left 4 days later, nothing had been tended to the entire time. One of the men's bathroom sinks has had a hole rusted in it since last summer. There's also a couple of dogs that seem to live there, but have no owners. They are off leash and literally will bark and run around the campground at all times of the night. Total neglect by the company and the individual(s) whom they've hired to oversee this property. I know several guides and business owners in Fort Smith and they say literally every customer they have that stayed at this property has had the same feedback- dirty property, declining conditions, no one around for customers, arriving guests always wandering around trying to get questions answered. I reached out to Jet Hospitality to provide feedback regarding this situation. Took them two weeks to respond. They assured me "they're on it" and will fix it. I'll believe it when I see it. The problems at this property are months/years in the making. If anyone was "on it", this would have been addressed long before I spoke up. If you have other options in Fort Smith, I'd recommend another property, but you seriously can't beat the location of this property.

Place was great bathrooms fix tho. Little houses nice dog did not bark and are friendly and if they do it is not the owners fault they are rez dogs people shut up it is not the owners fault. Anyway had fire was amazing brought my dog and they played with rez dogs I might take them to shelter. Also someone left a poor little kitty on purpose. Wanted to keep it but mom would not let me place is great except bathrooms.

I don’t know if the guy that opens up everyone morning is the manager or owner but he has no hospitality experience. First off we arrive and someone is in our rob spot. His helper was great in finding on spot cause it was getting dark. When we checked in with him the next morning, he was still annoyed that this helper called him to see what to do. Also he has two dogs that like to pick fights with other dogs and he does nothing about it. The dogs bark all the time and are blue healers and will chase your vehicle down as you drive off. This use to be a nice and peaceful and quiet place but no longer with the new management. Bathrooms and shower rooms are still run down after the last time I visited over 15 years ago. Stay away and if you are making the trip out here spend the money to stay somewhere else.

What an amazing time at Cottonwood Camp. Stars, northern lights, bonfires, grilling steaks, and catching fish. We rented a Glamping Tent with 2 queen beds for the elders and my husband and I stayed in the primitive camping. All amenities are really great. Everyone staying there was really friendly. And our host was helpful with the latest nymph hatch info! Bathrooms showers, comfy beds, warm heaters for the OGs, all perfect. Place has been around a awhile, so its still nice and rustic; a perfect Montana Fish Camp. We rented boats and the shuttle service for 2 great days on the Bighorn. Will return next fall!! Thank you!

I started staying at Cottonwood way back in the day 20 some odd years ago. We stopped staying there for many of the reasons for this review now. My fishing bud and I just stayed there 2 nights. Booked for 3 but decided to leave a day early. I had stayed there many times and they have painted the outsides of the cabins. We love pets and we both have dogs. The camp dogs are friendly and cute right up to the time they start barking directly behind the cabins at 3 in the morning. They woke everyone up. And the cat has figured out how to open a screen door and get into the cabin. So when you're not looking, she got into our trash twice and once into our food on the table. Sure close the outer door, but we wanted a cross breeze in the cabin and we shouldn't have to worry about that. She got into our car and into the trailer. She was in the trailer when we pulled out to leave. The bathroom sink was clogged. We told the man in the fly shop the next morning but nothing was done about it. So teeth brushing occurred in the kitchen sink. The kitchen is supplied with enough China for 2-3 people but the cabin holds 4 people. Cooking pots and pans were just fine but surprised just a few forks and spoons. No large serving spoon. The kitchen appliances were just fine. We planned on grilling some brats but the gas grill was in such poor condition with greasy filthy aluminum foil over the grids that we didn't want to clean the thing before we used it. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned all summer. Maybe because no grill brush was seen. Hence the aluminum foil from the last user? There were 2 bunk beds to hold 4 people. Of course my buddy and I slept on the 2 lower beds. But it baffled me how any adult could climb up to the top bunks. Especially if they were over 50 years old. No type of bunk ladder so be aware of that. Our beds were very hard. Service: It used to be there was always someone there in the fly shop to direct questions to. We pulled up at 12:30 in the afternoon and the place was locked up with a sign that said "out fishing". So no one to speak with. The communication prior to the trip was pretty lackluster as well. I called numerous times at various times and never once got through to a person, always voicemail. But they'll return emails at their convenience. They said in an email that they tried to call me numerous times but they must not know cell phones track all recent calls so I was able to see this wasn't true. And I had no voice mail messages. I guess what really surprised me was the "take out your trash" sign in the cabin. Yes you have to bag up your trash and carry it to the dumpster across the parking lot. If they have to do it, the sign says they charge an additional $45 plus tax. Same goes for leaving any dirty dishes. $45 plus tax. I guess the extra charges are a simple deterrent but "full service" lodge as stated on the website? I would think the $250 (including fees) per night would cover these sorts of things. Maybe leave an extra $5-10 for the room attendants. I can just imagine how difficult it is to find good employees in the area but the camp should not be advertised as a "full service" property. It's a plain and simple fishing camp for old curmudgeon fly fishermen who are not used to good, full service properties.

We have been staying at Cottonwood for 32 years and we have always enjoyed it. We stay there the week of August 17, 2025, not only has the price has gone up, but we're very disappointed in the condition of the bathrooms. They were disgusting, both the mens and womans, dirty toilets and sinks, over flowing trash cans and showers with hair and mold ! ( all the years we have come here they had been cleaned daily ) I listened to numerous people complaining of the same thing. Women saying they will never come back, means husbands probably won't either. There were numerous dogs running around free all day and barking ALL night ! ( even though the signs say YOUR dog needs to be on a leash and picked up after ) I found the people in the shop to be very friendly even thought the office hours and access to ice was very limited ( in the past the ice was always unlocked and was on an honor system ) I have read other reviews where people are saying the same things about the place, this is very sad and disheartening. Somethings so simple seems to be having a huge impact on this business. We love the location to the river and the shade of the campground but unfortunately we too are considering not returning next year.

I have stayed at this camp multiple times over the last few years and it seems to get worse every year. This year we decided to stay in one of the "Glamping" tents and when we arrived there was no one to check in with and the board was not updated with which tent we were supposed to be in. When we finally figured out where to go, the tent was full of wasps because there are gaps everywhere in the tents for them to get in. I ended up stuffing blankets and tarps in the gaps to try to keep them out. There was also a bat trapped between the screen and the tent wall that I had to chase out. Lamp shades were broken and filled with spider webs and there were holes in the roof of the tent (luckly it did not rain during our stay). The bathroom toliets and showers looked like they had not been cleaned in weeks. There were random dogs that I think belonged to the owner that roamed the camp barking at guests and other dogs and would walk around the camp at night barking constantly. We will be looking for other accomidations in the future. It is a shame as this place is in a great location near the 3 mile river access.

The Duplex is so off level it’s disconcerting. Disgusting floors. Perhaps they are just waiting for the place to implode. Way overpriced for the hole it is. On the plus side, comfortable bed and pretty views with quick access to fishing.

They really need to figure out how to deal with the stray dogs and wasps. The dogs were nice but our dogs got upset by the strays walking through the campground. The other issue was wasps! We could not sit outside or enjoy the beautiful scenery because of the aggressive wasps all over the campground. My wife and dog were both stung by wasps. We spent almost all our time at the camp shut up inside our trailer to avoid the wasps. It's a beautiful location, but we would not camp here again.

Camp site for our travel trailer was okay. Level enough but the hookups were in a terrible location. Better make sure you have long enough hoses. Communication prior to check-in was good, but when we arrived we did not see anyone from management ever. The loud barking dogs at night and early morning were a real plus. Nobody from staff seems to care about the dogs, given all of the other reviews and nothing has been done. The one positive to this place is the location to the public fishing access.
