★★★★★We had a great experience with Kellie, Matt and Charlie (and their amazing horses) at The High Lonesome Ranch. We originally reached out to them via email to inquire about their willingness to pony our mostly non-verbal, autistic son, who is 17 years old. They took the time to call and have a conversation about our previous experience and what would be possible. Our son was completely delighted to ride Little Joe, a massive animal but very docile and sweet. My husband was paired with the hilarious Rusty and I was with 25 year old Tex, who was as strong as an ox and still quite spry. Overall, it was a great way to spend the morning on our vacation. VERY highly recommend!
★★★★★This was an amazing experience. Matt and Charlie provided us with an excellent and informative tour with beautiful scenery. The horses were well behaved and followed in a row as expected of them. We even got to see a herd of cattle rounded up by horses and Dogs and moved to another area of grass land just like you would see on Dutton Ranch/Yellowstone. I would highly recommend this family run ranch for your next horseback riding experience. Thanks Matt!

The owners are lovely people and our guide (I think her name was Kelly?) was fun and had a lot of good info on the surrounding area, local fauna, etc. We got to see an elk while riding (from a distance) and a lot of cows grazing. They also do hunting trips that I'd strongly consider coming back for. They fit me in last minute and it was a worthwhile stop if stopping through the area.

★★★★★We had a blast on our horseback ride with CO High Lonesome! Kellie & Matt were so welcoming and fun. We were a group of 5, including a teen and tween who’d never rode a horse, and three adults who hadn’t been on horses in years (or decades!) Our group was just the 5 of us, and they like to keeps the groups small for an added personal feel. Kellie and her assistant Morgan were so helpful getting us on our horses and instructing us on how to be safe and successful on the ride. The horses were gentle and beautiful, and with such great personalities! The scenery was stunning — fields of wild flowers, aspen groves, and roaming cattle. It was definitely worth the drive from Steamboat! If you’re considering a horseback ride or other outing, definitely let CO High Lonesome be your guide!

My hunting partner is both physically and mentally disabled , choosing an outfitter was not an easy task. With in 48 hours Matt had a nice bull at 30yards. Start to finish Matt,Kellie and the crew worked tirelessly to make it a great experience. If you are looking for outfitters that are hard working, honest and overall great people, then I highly recommend them. Also, make sure you kiss boomer for good luck…..every morning!
★★★★★We had the pleasure of hanging out with Kellie and Matt on a half day mule ride outside of Steamboat CO. Not only was it a fun ride in a beautiful area, Kellie and Matt are just really fun people to hang out with! They not only gave us a great day's outing, they were kind enough to work it in during the off season for us. The weather was amazing and we spent a couple hours riding through the snow and trees, looking at the view and checking out all the animal tracks in the snow. Next time we are in the area we will be back for another ride! If you are in the area and looking for a fun outing, definitely check out this company and say hi to Kellie and Matt!!

We did a two hour trail ride and it was a great experience. The horses and mules were very cooperative, and we had no troubles handling them. I really appreciated that they were able to get us out this weekend during a somewhat busy season for them, and with the weather being spotty lately. Highly recommend!!
★★★★★BEST COLORADO EXPERIENCE!!! Horseback riding in the mountains sounds wonderful but this is MAGNIFICENT! Matt and Kelly could not be nicer! They were so welcoming when we arrived at their ranch they were all set for us. They took some time to answer some questions about mountain life and their horses. We followed them to the trailhead, a short jaunt down the road. First time on horses for the three of us. Matt and Kelly provided great instruction, and made us feel very comfortable. We loved our ride and our horses. The views were gorgeous. We learned about the area, laughed, and enjoyed the company of each other. We had some quiet time to enjoy the tranquility of the moments. The only thing which could have been better was if I would have booked a longer ride! Matt and Kelly are personable, fun, knowledgeable, and dedicated to making the time with them memorable. They recently purchased the business and are doing a remarkable job! They spoke of their hunting camps which sound amazing! I’m so glad we found them and have every intention of returning!
