This was our second time hunting with Mark and we had fantastic hunts both times. Mark and his guides worked hard to put my son and I on quality Merriams despite less than ideal conditions the first day. We worked birds in close both days before we finally notched our tags on the second day. Mark and Michael were patient and they know how to get birds in close. Can’t say enough about the experience and professionalism of these guys. I highly recommend them if you’re looking for a high quality hunt at a fair price.

First class outfitter. From the guides to the food to the game… all quality. Would definitely recommend them. I’m already planning my next trip with Mark and Scott.

I have hunted with Mark , Scott, Matt and Micheal for 3 decades hunting Elk, Deer , Bear and Antelope. No one works any harder than these guys . Last year after many year collecting PP for a muzzleloader hunt , pictured is a real trophy. Hunting private lands has its advantages . Thanks for all of your hard work

Great group. Mark put us on the elk first day! 3rd year going, and will continue to do so!

The proof is in the pudding, as they say. My combo elk / whitetail hunt couldn’t have gone any better, as far as I could tell. My guide got me on both of my intended game very quickly. He was a pleasure to get to know, and knowledgeable of their properties and the movement of the animals on them. He got us setup in great spots and we were able to stalk a little closer on the whitetail to setup in some tall grass. Also, as a bonus, while we didn’t have time to set up to video while stalking up on the whitetail, my guide was able to get a fantastic video of taking the elk down. I have hunted high fence, but this “free range” hunt was much more enjoyable. Estimated 300+” 6x6 bull at 280yds, and 160+” 10pt buck at 200yds. Mark was very helpful leading up to the hunt. I plan on going back in the future. Thank you Mark.

Mark and his crew — Michael, Matt, and Scott — are the real deal. These guys flat-out work. They put you in the right country, give you a real opportunity, and do everything they can to get you in front of animals. This season alone, they had me in front of three hung bulls, and we saw more game than I can count. Beyond the hunting, they run a first-class operation. The lodge is comfortable, the home-cooked meals hit the spot after long days, and everything is handled so you can focus on the hunt — not the logistics. You show up, hunt hard, eat well, and do it again the next day. What really stands out is the country they hunt and the experience they create. You see incredible animals, cover beautiful ground, and it makes you want to keep exploring every day you’re there. These guys care about the hunt, the land, and the people they guide. Mark, Michael, Matt, and Scott have earned my trust and my business for good. If you’re looking for honest, hardworking guides who give you a true shot and an unforgettable experience, this is the outfit to hunt with.

Hunted with these gentleman in October and it was one of the best trips I’ve been on and I've been blessed to have been on a few. From the food, to the guides, and the hunting, everything was top notch. I would highly recommend theses guys to anyone including my own family and friends. Plan to arrive as as strangers and leave as friends!

My first hunt with Mark and crew was stellar, this past year, not so much. Sending pics of 340-360 class bulls and we were out on mid 2s at best. We hunted the same farm to death to squeeze those 3 out. I shot mine first: took pics of spit when I shot him and then had to wait til dark cause others were hunting. When we went to look for mine I explained in detail and with pictures where I shot mine and Mark told me it was impossible, in fact he did so in the tone of a belligerent drunk and even asked me in a condescending way if I even hit it. I stated I didn’t want to stop looking because it was going to be 50’degrees all night. We went back the next morning after the other guys hunted and low and behold the bull was right where I said it was. The whole thing spoiled. What a crap show. Had to shoot substandard elk on a beat up ranch with a crotchety old drunk. Highly discourage anyone from using these people. Last year I would have told you they were great, because he was great. What truly hurt to me is that I recommended the 3 people to come with me this year and $32000 later with 4 of us in camp he acted like we owed him the world for nothing. One guy in our party was so frustrated that he left early.

First 3 days was paired with other hunters. On the 4th day I got a 1 on 1 and was able to sneak up to the herd and get a shot off. Food was great while in camp. Hunting is hunting. Win some lose some. Glad I was able to bring a bull back hole with me.

I can’t say enough about the operation that Mark and Scott run. I was impressed from the start. I was fortunate to shoot a great bull with my bow, but I would have given this outfit high marks regardless. They know their area, they are very smart about how they hunt as to not over pressure areas, and ultimately they work hard and want you to succeed. Thanks Mark and crew for a great experience!!

In four years I've had opportunities in three of them to harvest bulls. Mark and Scott are great guys that want you to be successful and work to that end. I killed a great bull last year and hope they return for another hunt very soon.

0 for 2. Zero opportunity. A friend and I paid $3,500 each for a trophy antelope hunt a few years ago. Neither of us had an opportunity at an antelope. 0 opportunity. I wasn't going to post anything negative, but just read in a recent 1 star review that they advertise 100% success. How can that be? They are making false claims. They refunded half of our $. But still, we were out $3,500. Hunts are often unsuccessful, but they are making very false claims on their website. There were practically no antelope on their property.

Where to begin…. Mark, Michael, and Matthew they are all studs! Tirelessly working to make your trip enjoyable, and productive. I’m not quite sure how someone could leave a bad review on these guys! The best food ever, the best service, they get the movements of the anima where they live, you just have to show up prepared. Thank you, all of you for making my trip memorable one!

Trip of a lifetime. Truly. My dad, brother, and I all made the trek from New York to Walsenburg to visit Mark and crew for our elk hunt. We had been on one other elk hunt years ago in MT, but nothing like this. Mark spoke very confidently about trophy bulls in the areas we were going to hunt and that we would have opportunity to see and get shots off at these elk. Fast forward to opening morning, 2 trophy bulls down within 7 minutes of sun up! My dad shot a beautiful 6x6 and then I was able to shoot a beautiful 6x5. Sunday evening, my brother shot a monster 7x7!! All three of us tagged out in 2 days of a 5 day hunt! The pictures speak for themselves! The camp is a hunting camp but clean. The food prepared by Marks wife was delicious. The guides, including Mark and Scott, were hilarious and knowledgeable. Although a 24-25 hour drive, we WILL DEFINITELY be back to visit Colorado Mountains and Plains Outfitters. Thank you to the staff for a trip of a lifetime and memories forever!

I got in contact with Mark for a last minute Elk hunt. Mark was very professional. His guides were great to work with. The guides were very receptive to my preferences and very knowledgeable. On short notice (1 week), Mark walked me through all that I needed. He communicated very effectively and we had a very successful hunt. After the hunt, Mark took care of everything for me: gutting, getting it to the processor, setting up the mounting. I told Mark that I really wanted to hit the “Easy Button” on this hunt and Mark delivered! I had a great time and will be working with Mark again in the future!

Myself and my brother booked a pronghorn antelope hunt with planes and mountains outfit. I just want everyone to know that’s going to book a pronghorn hunt that we were lied to . We met with Mark Valdez. He told us that his guides were staying in town Trinidad and would pick us up or meet somewhere and take us on this guided hunt. It was a three day hunt. They told us we had to follow them 60 miles to the hunting grounds northeast of Trinidad. At the gates of their two small pieces of dirt. We’re supposed to hunt on. Searched till noon. Then they abandoned us and took a Lunch break. Three day hunt turned into A two day hunt taking three days because nine hours Time were wasted with them going to town from noon till three. They promised They promised reasonable shots 200 yards. On this property, this was not possible. Long yard shots were not a problem for my brother and I , We just were hoping for an opportunity. They did acquire another piece of property which miraculously I got my pronghorn. We saw very few animals, my brother did not really get a chance at one. They are now not 100% kill on pronghorn They talk this hunt up, but it was not that way. I have been fortunate enough to been on other guided hunts with other outfitters. This was a poor excuse for a guided hunt. I do not want other clients to be promised things that are not true. Be careful do your homework. Ask a lot of questions. Richard Peterson.

Been on numerous hunts with these guys and they are the best! 160” whitetail a few years back, plenty of 6x6 bulls and great antelope.

I wanted to book a hunt, but there was not good communication. Seemed like I was an inconvenience for them to call or reach out to.

Had a wonderful time on a DIY antelope hunt with these guys. Couldn't recommend a better company to go with. Got my first antelope with a great set-up. Super helpful especially for a DIY.

I hunted with CMP for the last 20 years and never had two owners that guide and care for there hunters like Mark and Scott. A first class outfit that i can't waited to hunt with next Elk season. I am 67 and they make Elk hunting easy for and old man.

Wow these guys are awesome! I’ve been going with CMPO for many years and there is no outfitter that cares more for the customer than The staff of CMPO. This was my 5th bull plus mule deer, whitetail, antelope not to mention all were Pope and Young.

Never saw an elk while hunting. 6 guys in camp, nobody got a shot at an elk all week. Paid for a 1 on 1 guided hunt and was paired with another hunter who also had paid for a 1 on 1 hunt. Guides were lazy. Lodging is in a rundown mobile home. Horrible experience.

Great outfit! Wasn't successful, but had opportunities... Highly recommend... Very friendly folks!
