Words cannot describe the experience that you will get with this outfitter. I had never been on a hunt outside of East Texas growing up, a trip to Colorado for Elk, and a Mexico white tail hunt. I wanted something big and adventurous. I was recommended to call Tom Henderson. I learned a few lessons on the hunt that were notable to me and quite frankly life altering. 1. THE ADVENTURE ISN’T IN THE KILL. I set out with the kill and a trophy as the main priority. Truth be told- the only priority. After taking a jet boat up the Salmon River through some class 2-4 rapids, seeing Nez Perce paintings on cavern walls, bald eagles in the trees above, several days of traveling on horseback in the mountains my mindset changed from a hunt to the realization that I was having the biggest adventure of my life regardless. I was seeing country that very few including locals ever see. It was absolutely amazing. 2. ITS WAY HARDER THAN YOU THINK. I prepared myself based on advice given by exercising prior. Walking bleachers with a pack on. Treadmill. Etc. I left feeling confident that I was ready. LMAO. Simply put there’s no amount of work you can put in that is enough. You will still get there and about 2-3 days in stock and go “damn this is tough country”. 3. TOM’S THE REAL DEAL. Simply put there’s mountain men and then there’s Tom Henderson. He’s a straight shooter. Well adept in his surroundings. And as intimidating as he can be at first…pretty freaking funny. Just the kind of guy you remember for life. Short story long-I have been back several times now. Each with its own adventure, stories to tell, and individual experiences. Every time I have left wanting to go back immediately. I highly recommend. So if you are looking for a real adventure that will challenge you and leave you longing for more this is who you call.
