I have been saving up for and dreamed of going on a mountain lion hunt for most of my adult life. Finally, I was able to book a hunt in January 2025 with Scott Summers. Words will not do this review justice. I have been fortunate to have bow hunted a lot of big game my entire adult life (including Alaskan brown/grizzly bears, Dall sheep, musk ox, mountain goat, moose, and Wyoming elk, antelope, mule deer and black bears). But without a doubt this was the most exciting, intense, physically demanding, memorable, and enjoyable hunt that I have ever been on. You can immediately tell that Scott has been doing this a long time and has the experience, passion, drive, and intelligence to find and harvest a lion. His assistant guide Jake is incredible, and his dogs are clearly top notch. No other outfitter will work harder than them in finding you a lion. They are honest, ethical guides who will take excellent care of you while hunting and treat you like family. I consider them friends for life. Prepare to rise early in the morning, hunt hard, and hike like you’ve never hiked before. Then get ready for thrilling controlled chaos if you find a lion. I am so thankful to have harvested a massive, beautiful (potential pending record book) male lion with my bow. Most hunters can only hunt a mountain lion once in their lifetime. I highly recommend Scott and Scott jr as they both put in the effort to make an amazing and adrenaline rushing hunt. In 3 days time I harvested 2 bobcats and a mountain lion. After three years of unsuccessful lion hunting in Wyoming, I booked a hunt with Canyon Rim Outfitters for the winter of 2022. After speaking with Scott, I knew his operation was everything I had been looking for. I booked a hunt with Scott after talking to several different outfitters. After talking with Scott and meeting him and his son I knew I made the right decision. This is a first class operation with the best dogs I’ve seen. Scott has put in a ton of time into training his dogs to assure you have the time of your life and to make sure you get a cat. Both Scott and his son worked hard and were always up early, ready to go and did everything they could to find me what I was looking for. After finding a track I got to watch his dogs work and I was simply amazed and what they could do, from the young to old dogs, they worked harder than I’ve ever seen a dog work. I’m glad I made the decision to go with canyon rim outfitters for my hunt and I will be back, this was an experience with amazing people and dogs that I won’t ever forget.
