My son and I have been hunting at Black Creek Plantation in Union Springs for 7 or 8 years. We have harvested many deer and have completely enjoyed ourselves every time! This is whitetail hunting at its finest. Pitts Lowman is truly the perfect host. He and his guides provide everything you need to experience a great hunt. If you are looking for the complete whitetail hunting experience, this is it. I highly recommend Black Creek Plantation. I have read some of the negative reviews and it sickens me. I don’t believe them to be true. A couple of them copy and pasted each other’s reviews. Black Creek is not a high fence area where they parade deer in front of you on a leash. There are no guarantees but whether we have harvested deer on our trips or not we have always loved our experience and our freezers are full! Thank you Black Creek, thank you Pitts! Do not miss an opportunity to hunt at Black Creek!

Been to Black Creek twice. Once for Hog and this weekend for deer We had a great time this weekend! Pitts is a great guide, gets you to the deer. Miss Monday cooks incredible food! We came back a second time because of Pitts personal, down home approach to his customers. Me, my Brother and nephew came for a hunt as he is leaving for the Marine Corp in a month. I have had hunts of a lifetime at Black Creek plantation and have harvested massive bucks here as well as several huge gobblers. I have been to several lodges in my travels around the country and I can say that Pitts has a first class operation. I have seen deer and turkey every time that I have been there. I have always had a blast. On top of that Ms. Monday is an excellent cook and every meal that I have experienced there has been delicious. I will definitely be back and I look forward to it!

If I were to have put the trip on I would have gone to Great Southern Outdoors though I was a client/guest. When asked for firewood Robert stated his chainsaw was stolen, guide (Robert) bought roadkill from the cooks son and posted on Facebook page “Robert with a nice 7 point” which makes me think all the deer posted is false advertising due to not seeing a deer in 21 hunts as a group. Could honestly make a documentary of worst place to go whitetail hunting in Alabama at this place or just call it “Hunting Vacation” if you have seen uncle Eddie’s Vegas and Christmas Vacation.

Union Springs, Al is home to some of the best whitetail deer hunting in the county, except at Black Creek Plantation. I came with a group of experienced hunters, and after 21 combined hunts didn’t see 1 single deer. There was absolutely no insight from property owner or guides on deer activity and which locations were prime to possibly harvest a deer. One of the guides informed a member of the group that he purchased fresh roadkill, and posted pictures to insinuate he harvested the deer from the property. The cabin was very cramped with other hunting parties and guests. Our group was comprised of 6 hunters, and we were expected to share one bedroom with all of our gear. The guides smoked in both the cabin and vehicles. The guides also drank a lot of beer from customer’s coolers. The stands were unsafe, as the welds from the tree stands were broken. A member from our party was forced to hunt 30yds. from a “gut” pile. There was no corn in the feeders. Overall, the experience was completely soured from the overall lack of professionalism, and fact that at $1400/hunter not a single deer was spotted on the property.

Considering we didn’t produce any deer on our recent trip, and we paid a considerable amount of money, we had higher expectations. We all deer hunt and understand that you don’t always produce on a hunt. I brought in customers and we all had to pack in one room, was not aware of other groups staying, and just overall seemed very ill organized. We paid money for guided hunts (which we have all been too) we have higher expectations. This was not a good experience and quite frankly we tried to keep our optimism high but it just wasn’t enough. Issues we experienced... -No corn in feeders -Guide drinking our beer -Smoking inside cabin with all of our gear -Was not told about multiple groups staying in cabin which was awkward and not advertised this way -One of our guys was set next to a gut pile to hunt (picture to prove it) -other guests complaining about same things and having come multiple trips to never harvest deer -not even enough table space for everyone to eat around a dining room table Was not offered a discount at all. Very dissatisfied.

The staff here are mostly family, and they treat you as though you were one of their own. They sincerely work hard to provide a fantastic hunting experience, and they work to put you in the best position to harvest big deer and hogs. I've been twice now, and plan to continue returning. I've hunted many times in many places, and this is without question my favorite lodge. Regardless of what you see in the woods, you will sleep well, and eat like a king. I highly recommend this place for some wonderful Alabama hunting!

We offer Deer, hog, and turkey hunting and we have the best fishing that the state has to offer. We hunt small groups to make your stay more personal and successful.
