I had the best day at this beautiful little slice of heaven. I was up in Pagosa Springs playing music and I was supposed to play here at Pedro’s Ranch, but unfortunately it was dumping rain so we canceled the gig. Nikki was so kind to put us up for the weekend as I had other shows in town and we couldn’t have had a more cozy and comfortable experience. The rooms have everything you could need, kitchen, couch, tv, WiFi, and most importantly the beds were incredibly comfortable. My weekend wouldn’t have gone this way had we not had this luxury. The best part was one of the ranch dogs, who was the sweetest thing ever and he kept checking on me. This place felt like home and I cannot wait to come back next year, and hopefully I get the chance to go horse back riding! Thank you so much!

Breathtaking experience that was worth every penny! Recent 4 hour trail ride to Poison Park on our honeymoon took us to some of the most beautiful valleys and luscious overlooks i have ever seen. Our guide, Duke, had fantastic finesse with the animals and people, was very knowledgeable, and even saved my hat when a tree snagged it. Very sweet, trustworthy horses too! A dream come true trail ride. Made us want to return, look into the pack trips and maybe even stay in the cabins available on the ranch too! 10/5 stars!!!!! You will not regret a second of this real out west adventure🤠

Our ride with Becca at Backcountry Outfitters was truly unforgettable. My 16-year-old daughter and I did the four-hour trail ride along the stunning Piere River trail, and it was one of the highlights of our entire trip. The views were absolutely breathtaking—towering cliffs, sweeping river bends, and vegetation lined paths—but what made the experience exceptional was Becca (and her loyal dog, Bann).
Becca was the perfect guide—knowledgeable, encouraging, and kind. She shared stories and facts about the area as we rode, and gave us so much confidence navigating the steeper ledges. You could tell the horses were not only sure-footed and well-trained, but genuinely happy and well cared for. They seemed to love the adventure as much as we did, which speaks volumes about the care they receive.
We felt completely safe and inspired the whole time. It’s rare to find someone who clearly loves what they do as much as Becca—and it shines through in every part of the ride. I would absolutely ride with Becca and the incredible horses of Backcountry Outfitters every time we return. It was magical. Thank you for the memories!

We went on the 4 hour ride. It was long enough and just short of being too long for infrequent riders. The horses were sure footed and very well behaved. I rode Delilah and while she was a bigger horse she was a great choice. The views along the ridge were amazing. Be advised if you are afraid of heights sign up for the other ride. Our guide Nick, was on point and lets just say his professionalism came in handy. If we are ever back in the area would go again.

We were looking for a last minute trail ride to book for our family of 3. I called and spoke with Nikki, and she was quick to accommodate us. She made the booking process and directions to our location smooth and simple. We arrived early and was kindly greeted at the trail head by Duke and Tanner. They adjusted saddles and made sure we were comfortable before we set out on our ride. The horses were well trained and gentle. We had the pleasure of riding Yogi, Rosco, and Rose.
Duke separated from us half way through the ride to tend to other clients while Tanner continued guiding us along the trail. Tanner was extremely helpful and friendly, and was happy to take some pictures of our family. They had all of the answers to our questions about the area that we were riding. The area that we rode through was beautiful. We even seen some deer along the trail. We highly recommend and can't wait for our next ride with them in the future.

Really nice cabin, you can choose from more modern interior with cabin #1 or more Western log cabin like #3. The bedding was super soft and comfortable and pillows were the perfect support. Much better than at many fancy resort hotels I've stayed at. The outfitters or owners are super nice and accommodating. They made us feel really welcomed. We did the horseback ride with them too and had a great time. I would highly recommend staying here and checking out what they have to offer.

My 24yo daughter and I had a wonderful half day BCO riding excursion today. We are both novice riders from the East Coast, and Nikki was amazing when I reached out, very responsive. She made sure to put us on a great trail ride. Our guide Tanner was amazing, very knowledgeable about the horses, and made sure my daughter and I had a safe and memorable ride. Extremely disappointed. I scheduled a birthday trip (5.5 hour drive), bought a airbnb and booked a half day excursion over 2 months in advance. Unfortunately 4 days before my ride and after I signed all the waivers and paid 2 months prior I was told that they no longer had the staff to accommodate my ride. As they must know given they are a horse back ride service themselves, every place I called was booked and told me reservations should be made 3 weeks in advance at least. There resolve was to offer me a two hour ride on the same day but at different times or a refund. Again I had planned my whole trip around this and could not accommodate a changed ride time. After I pressed that those times would not work and I did not want to do a 2 hour ride but a 4 hour one they offered me a noon. When I said ok and adjusted the rest of my day to accommodate it, they changed up again and no longer said it was an option. I ended up canceling the whole trip and lost a bunch of money because of it. Horrible service that ruined a trip planned 2 months in advance. I will not be utilizing their service at any point in time and would not recommend if your expecting to receive what you paid for.

My husband and I went for a 2 hour ride early in the morning! Stacy was wonderful getting us ready to ride "Justin" and "Sway". RC was our guide and was very nice and insightful with his knowledge of riding and the area. He took several pictures of us which was great for memories! The horses were "packers" and were so safe to ride. The views were breathtaking and so cool to see on horseback. It was the highlight of my trip!!! Would highly recommend!!!

Nice ride and they certainly take good care of the horses. But one of our party had severe back pain and had to dismount and walk back to the stable. His son agreed to stay with him and walk back along with one of the guides. The other guide led the rest of the group back.
The walk was slow. The guide then left the two on foot without water or communication (there was no cell service) on the trail alone because the horses needed to be fed. She did not send anyone back to check on her clients and let them fend for themselves on the trail back. The two finally made it back about 90 minutes after the rest of the group.
Thankfully and luckily everyone returned safely, a little worse for wear and quite thirsty. It could have easily turned out differently.
