I was fortunate to land Josh as my wrangler and guide for my first Colorado Elk Hunt. The horseback ride in got this flatlander's adrenaline going and the spike camp accommodations were the connection to nature I really needed. A lot of conditions led to an unsuccessful season for a lot of hunters in W Colorado last year. Josh did his job and we were fortunate to glass a herd of Elk over a few days and it held just a Regal Bull. We dropped in for the shot, but I missed. Saw plenty of quality Mule Deer and some scary Mountain Lion sign as well. Avalanche sure did their part and I would highly recommend.

My 2 sisters and myself took a 2 hour ride with Alex, our guide. The views were like nothing I have seen before, just stunningly beautiful. The horses were so great, obviously well cared for and well trained, just magical. To experience this with my sisters, whom I just found a few years ago, was a snapshot in time, cherished forever…It was that good ya’ll. I did a 3-hour horseback ride with the guide Alex last week and it was amazing. We did a private ride up the mountain, and I can highly recommend doing that. The horses are well trained, Alex is a very knowledgeable guide and can answer all your questions.
Moreover, they are fair when it comes to time. If you book a 3-hour ride, you are going to be on your horse on a trail for 3 hours. Thanks again for the wonderful time!

Yesterday I took a 5 hour horseback ride with Josh at Redstone Stables/ Avalanche Outfitters - it was AMAZING! He took me on a private ride up through aspen forests and some open meadows to see incredible views! Josh, who is the owner, was personable and his experience shows. The picnic lunch provided was from the Redstone Inn and was delicious. I love riding horses and have had many rides across Colorado...this ride was especially memorable! I'll be back again next year and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a fantastic horseback riding trip!

I hunted with Josh 2nd season this year. I was there with both of my sons and my wife's nephew. When we packed into camp on Thursday afternoon , the tent had collapsed due to snow. We rode back down and Josh put us up at the Redstone Inn. Next day we rode back in and helped Kelli set up a new tent. We didn't see any elk due to Mother Nature but my son did get a mule deer. We were treated fairly and I would like to thank Josh and kelli for the experience. It was the first western hunt for Dustin and he's ready to do it again.

we did a 10 day drop camp with Avalanche Outfitters at Redstone stables and had a great trip. The camp was well furnished with everything that was supposed to be supplied. The tent was well set up and in great condition. They did a good job keeping in touch to make sure we had a good hunt. We'll definitely be consider they for our next hunt.

This was our first horse back riding. The instructor was very professional and kind. Our horses were calm and knew exactly where and what to do. The trail was so beautiful and his little dog 'Mooch' went along with us following the instructor. Highly recommend

Josh is a great guide. We just spent an hour on the horses (Cody and Phoenix) which were really good. In that ride we ventured deep into the ranch through thick forests and meadows along Coal Creek. Josh made custom adjustments to the stirrup straps to make sure my petite wife was sitting comfortably. Pick this outfitter and you’ll be happy you did. What a great area to ride. Josh has great cowboy stories to tell. We highly recommend.
